Not sure why peeps use desktop software to do anything. And if you just have to sync your media with a desktop then DoubleTwist is king for me. Otherwise use the cloud.

To control data usage...
1. Install DroidWall to limit what apps use the net.
2. 3G Watchdog tracks your usage and breaks your usage down by app so you can find the hogs easier - and block them with Droidwall.

I only have a 100MB data bundle. Use wifi mostly.

Ug, Droidwall requires you to root your phone :( Was getting so excited.

Samsung Galaxy Note. Due Nov.
There are other 1.5Ghz phones coming but none with the notes 5.3" Super AMOLED screen. I am first in the queue for this baby :)

You're going to need a backpack for a 5.3" phone... its essentially a tablet.

If rumours of the Galaxy S III are anything to go by I may have a difficult choice mid year 2012. The note may win as being a graphic artist the idea of sketching artwork
And initial design ideas at the client without lugging a laptop and artist tablet around sounds fantastic.

The SIII id have to get just because its bigger faster stronger than the SGS2. I'm an upgrade fanatic.

Thanks Mike, will Google DoubleTwist - WiFi at home frustrating due to Telkom having issues in neighbourhood.

As bb's do.

Be happy that you are now forced to get used to the better phone and platform :)

For sale cancelled - no choice but to move onto Android. BB packed up after having gone for repairs once before.

Life is full of twists :) You will love Android. 48% of the smartphone market worldwide can't be wrong :)
Give it a bit of time to figure it all out. You will learn to maximise your battery life, reduce data usage, etc...

Antonie, I had a similar shock when I used my SGS2 for a week :) Root your phone, get Droidwall (fantastic app) to limit the apps using data. I found Email to be a bloodsucker, as I had it set to push and it was polling like crazy. I have it set on a scheduled check for peak and off peak times. I stay off pure Facebook apps and find that TweetDeck is more than sufficient for keeping up with FB and Twitter while hardly using data - I have set all updates on manual.

Get Advanced Task Killer and kill them apps that creep up once in a while. I've read somewhere here that this app is a bad idea, but I haven't experienced any problems that I'm aware of yet.

I'm using maybe average 2mb a day. I do have Wifi at home so I browse Market and do big downloads on that of course. Get 3G Watchdog and put a widget on your homescreen to monitor usage.

I can't seem to get Talk to work through Droidwall. I don't really use Gtalk anyway, but it's a bit curious.

PS: I love this screen. I've always craved pure black in a display.

Thanks floydthebarber71,

Appreciate the support - I'm steadily learning, browsing store apps via Chrome on laptop

Has anybody tried the app ZDbox (All-In-One toolbox) instead of using Titanium Backup?
Is it any good, what is the feedback?

What are the current best contract deals for the Galaxy S2? First choice VC, I'll consider porting to other carriers if it's really beneficial.

Vodacom is to expensive and the sgs2 neads data ,cell C seems the place to be

Thanks...you're 100% right...I'm actually gotvol of Vodacom. I'll wait the couple months for my contract to expire, see what the best options are at the time and port.

I just got my Galaxy, yay and I am so excited.

I have a Question, like I downloaded Droidwall. Will it work even though I havent rooted my phone?
