Okay. I've given it another shot now.

Did a complete wipe and flashed the latest LP3 release.

Also rooted it and with Droidwall restricted 80% of my apps from using 3G. Especially the email app that gave me problems on LPQ.

No issues so far but I am still concerned about the usage of the email app. My wifi usage shows that the email app has used 80mb in the few hours I have been back on ICS. And I only received two emails during that time.

So somehow the app keeps on checking or downloading mails?!

You talking about the samsung/android integrated app? I switched over long time ago to the google gmail app for email (think its gmail only though), and it works a lot better. That integrated one was always sending/receiving data.

Yes it is the integrated email app. I also use Gmail for my gmail account but unfortunately I have 3 other POP mails I also want on the phone.

I might download K9 mail app again. But didn't really like it the first time around.
 
Argh! Anyone running CM9 nightlies? Just flashed the latest Codeworkx CM9 (20120401) and the APN won't save... Anyone with Vodacom APN that works with CM9?
 
MIUI is awesome. I changed 24 hours ago, from CheckROM RevoHD v6. I have my NAND backup of that. So im gonna test MIUI for about a week or so and then decide which one to stick to. Must say CheckROM's battery life is gonna be hard to beat. So far I'm impressed mostly by the sleek design, customization and fluidity of MIUI.

There are small thing that bother me, like not being able to switch my backlit keys off without using auto brightness (the guys with SGS2s will know what I mean).
Cant seem to assign an app to double click home button.
Cant adjust brightness by sliding my finger along the top of the screen.

OK so just an update on modems for gb 2.3.6

I found that the KI4 modem gives much better performance than KL1.

1. Its GPS sync is super quick, the KL1 was epicly slow.
2. Data is very much on par however I find I get slightly better speeds and am on HSPDA + more often with KI4.
3. I had brilliant call quality on KL1, however on KI4 I find that I have very good call quality.

All together If you have XWLA4 or a rom based on it, I recommend KI4.

I have to agree with you on this one. I switched from default CheckROM V6 modem, KL1, to KI4. Reason i chose KI4 was because there where a lot of positive comments for it on the CheckROM Kitchen app.

My battery also lasts longer on KI4 while using HSDPA compared to KL1.
 
Is there any way to stop this spam coming from the market place for free games etc?

i dnt think its coming from the market. might be a "free" app that pushes spam to you notifications. there is an app to find which apps are calling the spam. forgot the name though
 
Is the app Airpush detector? I installed it but got a clean bill of health
