Help Needed!!!
Hey guys, so I think I broke something. Got my SII about a month ago and been playing around with custom ROMs since then trying to find a good stable one to use as my daily driver. Also played around with different kernels like Siyah. I installed and tested a lot of ROMs like Resurrection Remix, RootBOX, MIUI, WIUI and CM9. Finally settled on WIUI v4 2.6.7 as primary on dual boot with CM9 RC1 as secondary.
I started running into problems as my phone would get really hot while listening to music for a while, like so hot I couldn't hold it for more than a few seconds. I thought this was a kernel problem even though WIUI v4 says it supports Siyah kernel. Anyway I then used the stock WIUI v4 kernel but still had problems as the phone was still heating up when playing music. The phone would also get hot while playing music on Apollo in CM9. I did a bit of Googling and the solution seemed to be a "double install" of WIUI so I did that but still had heating problems.
Generally I put my phone off at night then charge it until I get up in the morning. The other day when I got up, the phone was absolutely dead even though I had charged it till 100% then put it off before I went to bed. When I put it one charge it started acting a bit strange. The charging animation would start with an empty battery with a "processing" circle then start to fill up the empty battery, but after two "fills" it would stop for a few seconds then return to the "processing" circle then fill the empty battery twice before it began the loop again.
I tried to boot into WIUI but it just shut the phone down saying that the battery was too low. I then tried to boot into CM9 and left the phone to charge while it was on. Once the battery was fully charged I tried to connect the phone to my netbook via USB but the phone would not recognize that I had connected the cable and the netbook didn't read my SD card.
It would then also not charge when I put the charger in so I thought I had broken the USB port on the phone. After some Googling I tried to clean the port by blowing it and using a piece of cotton wool. The phone started to charge after that, but I still cannot connect the phone via mass storage.
I thought the custom ROMs may had messed with it so today I flashed the stock (I9100XWLP7_I9100OJCLP6_XFA) ROM from the SamMoble.com website. It seems to charge now but I still cannot connect to my netbook or PC via USB.
Sorry for the super long and detailed post, but I really need to get this thing sorted out. My friend got this phone on a contract (think it's MTN, not 100% sure) but it was too much power for him so I traded with him, I'm on Redbull Mobile (Cell C). Should I take it back to the store because the only got it about a month ago, so it should still be under warranty or something. I currently have the Stock ICS ROM installed so I don't think it will be a problem. Will they now that I've rooted the phone and installed custom ROMs and is there a way that I can get rid of that info.
Also, is anyone running WIUI/MIUI with stock/Siyah kernel and have issues with the phone getting very, very hot while its been playing music for a while.
