Here is something for all Galaxy S2 owners, who are not keen on rooting their phones, or, like myself, can't because of my DSTV Drifta.

I played around with the apps available for ICS and came up with this :

What I've used :

1. Stock ICS 4.0.3 ROM from Vodacom
2. Nova Launcher
3. Fancy widgets
4. ICS keyboard, which you can't see.

I guess it's the closest we'll ever get to a custom ROM. :)
 
CM9 RC1 was fantastic so I can just imagine that CM9 RC2 been just the same and even better.

Same goes for Resurrection Remix 2.6.Its the best it will ever get and something tells me its the last ICS update you gonna get from him get before he creates his JB Masterpiece.

And then you have the brilliant MIUI 2.7.20.Another one of my favourites.

So much good roms to choose from for this phone and I've just given you my Top 3.I switch between these on a regular basis.You cant go wrong choosing any one of the above.

FYI my S2 chums, I installed CM9 RC2 on my Note yesterday and it's as smooth and as reliable as ever. I've been flashing a nightly for a few weeks and had continued problems with the external SD not being recognised, so I was using an app called ICS binder from the store to rectify. But RC2 has taken care of this and everything is peachy so far. No problems so far (not that I had any with the nightlies other than that mentioned).

BTW. I tried stock 4.0.4 last week and lasted less than 24 hours. CM9 is the dogs danglies :)

For the S2, nothing changed re. external sd from rc1 to rc2 - it's just at mnt/emmc instead of where you'd expect it (sdcard), which instead refers to internal memory.
 
For the experts - which is currently the best stock Rom available at the moment?

Ok, I'm using the stock South Africa 4.0.3 LP7 ROM, code XFA. Very stable and fast. I didn't take the Vodacom ROM (XFV), as I don't want to see a badly animated gif with a red tick in it. I prefer the sexy Samsung S2 logo.

You can get the ROM at www.samfirmware.com, but you will have to register to download the ROM. But registering takes 30 seconds, so it's not a biggie.

I would say RR 2.6 but thats just my preference.You'll notice by the downloaded file size differences that CM9 is a light 134mb download whereas RR 2.6 is a monster 382mb's.

With installing RR though you can do a customized install and leave some things out if you wish.

So if you like light with just the basics to build on then go Cm9.

If you like customizations with lots of options ect ect go with Resurrection remix.

These roms have gotten to a point where performance/speed wise they are all on par with each other.

Its really hard to choose.Dual booting is one way to make it easier.But when you have three favourites,throwing MIUI in the mix you sometimes wish Siyah would release a triple boot option :D

You can use an app called 'Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper' to temporarily "unroot" your phone when you want to use your drifta.
I use it with mine and haven't had any problems..should try it if you want the great benefits of rooting your phone but still using a drifta!
 
How do I update my Siyah kernel? Is it just the same process as I did when I flashed Siyah the first time?

EDIT: Never mind, just saw I can do it through CWM :D

Ok, how do I do the wipes? I just saw CWM has a update kernel function, is this a safe method or should I rather use ODIN?
