Dear all I NEED HELP

My sister had her S2 at pure Gingerbread stock. I wanted to flash her CM10...

All went smoothly, but I got that problem where you can't get a data connection, nor send sms.

I know about that smsc fix (I had to do it for my own phone, which worked for me). I have now done 4 diff smsc numbers with a million phone restarts/shutting down and rebooting, but to no avail...

Now the funny thing - both my and her S2's have the exact same settings - the same CM10 nightly, the same modem (LQ6), the same SMSC no, all that info in the 'about' page in settings - all the same!

Why the hell no data connection? I have switched it off and on multiple times (from various places in phone), giving ample time at each interval.

Please help if you can.

Swop SIM cards and try again, could be a network issue. Also check the access point settings.

I'm new to the Android environment and thinking of getting an S2. I have my eyes on the JellyBAM ROM. Any comments on this?

What is the easiest way to root this phone?

I havent heard any complaints about jellyBam but i don't support him because he largely coppies from other developers like the Rootbox ROM. Here is a link to ROOT.
 
Anyone here using a sweet theme on AOKP? I've only ever seen (and backed up) the Halo Red theme, but something new to freshen things up would be appreciated :-) Any suggestions?

no risk if u follow guides properly. I've done really dumb things and the worsed I've gotten are soft bricks that Odin fixes.

I had the same problem and got a fix. You need to flash a modern that had rill files in it already long story short the modem your using is not connecting properly because the rill files are not talking so just get a modem that has it already built in and your golden:D
 
deleted the proxy and rebooted with no success. Got new internet settings from cell c but that did not work either. Tried using a vodacom sim and could download without issues. thinking the sim might be the problem.
 
I had this problem with any non-Samsung ROM I tried to flash (mostly MIUI). Not a MAJOR problem since I have wi-fi at home and work, but annoying. Eventually got annoyed enough to flash the original ROM again.

In my case data does work when I use another sim card, though, so hopefully when I switch over to CellC soon my problem will be solved (I didn't want to do a sim swap when I was leaving MTN anyway).

Never head of "ril files" before, so will definitely look at that next time, thanks.

What are rill files? Am I actually still a noob? :erm:

Successfully rooted my S2 and really enjoying the speed and bettery saving!
 
Thanks for answer...I realised my stupid mistake..

I didn't know my sister was on MTN, and I was entering the PDU numbers for Vodacom *facepalm*.

How do I get the PDU for MTN? I've got this page: http://www.twit88.com/home/utility/sms-pdu-encode-decode and I have this SMSC no for MTN: +27-831000002

I have brain fog today, I feel a tad flustered...any help would be appreciated...

EDIT: Don't worry I got it working with 07917238010000f2 ...phew!
