sweet thanks for the help the project has come to a halt for now battery is dead and on charge for the last 2 hours now, in the meantime I am off to read

not feeling any more adventurous I decided to go with the latest stable release cm-10.1.2-i9100g I got from here

after I backed up and then wiped the data tried installing the CyanogenMod 10 ROM
gave me an error assert failed: getprop something something tried again and again
gapps installed easily I did this just to test the "theory"

Good lord had a heart attack when installing the backup up I made earlier, kept saying MD5 check sum error, tried multiple times still the same. decided to call on divine intervention (praying really hard) and the by the powers that be the phone is back to it normal self
not sure where I went wrong. maybe its the release I downloaded ?
while googleing the error msg I got this website

My one says something slightly different to the error msg this guy got but mostly the same, I am thinking of trying it out unless you guys got some expert advice.
I will wait for a reply before attempting it again my heart can't handle the stress

Oh lordy... I'm glad I helped with the rooting, but you can be glad you didn't brick your phone! :)

I assumed you had a i9100 S2, that's why I sent you that link to that specific model, the i9100. Anyway, no harm done. You've got it rooted and CWM installed I assume. The worst part is over. I had my share of heart attacks as well lol.

You're lucky, just a couple of weeks ago there was no stable releases for the SII, not even release candidate! They are currently continuing with the CM10.2 nightlies for the SII, DrZoidberg tells me it's stable. But the RC releases will definitely be more stable. I'm on the newest one now and I'm experiencing good battery life and no issues. I doubt if they will release a fully stable version for the SII, it's getting old. But hopefully, our lucked has changed with these RC's!

So when your phone is charged, download the latest RC, make sure you download the correct version of GApps (Android 4.2.2), put both on your phone in the root. Reboot into recovery. Format, wipe cache, install CM10.1 and then GApps. Welcome to CM :)
 
:cry: the sadness is overwhelming

my phone she's dead, my phone was working as per prev post. never got to install the rom, was gonna do it 2moro,
so here is my story
I got a message that the supersu app updated as normal(notification area on top) I decide to open the app. at this point I get greeted with a message saying I should start the phone in cwm recovery mode to completed the update, I figure why the hell not. it gives me 2 options do it reboot manually or automatically which btw is recommended for the HTC, I decide heck might as well go the auto route what harm can be done right besides if it dont work then just do it manually after.

:(:(:(:(the sadness it overwhelms me :cry::cry::cry:

my phone just displays the samsung logo with the triangle at the bottom and goes no further.
things I have tried
waiting 2 hours to see if it will eventually boot,
rebooting a million times
tried manually booting into cwm (vol up, home button and power but) still nothing just the "welcome" screen

One thing that does work is (vol down, home button and power but) it gets me into odin mode
I am hoping this is my saving grace and this I can use to get my phone back up and running. pls tell me I don't have to throw this phone away I love it to bits we been thru alot together in last 2 and a half years
 
It is very difficult to brick a S2 - you have to be really special to accomplish that...

Get your phone into Download mode
Start Odin on your PC
Connect the phone to the PC
Wait for green
Flash the stock firmware again

There are complete instructions somewhere in this thread - just look it up.

And here is the best tip I can give you: Read!

Again, that isn't the correct ROM. Why are you downloading a ROM for the GT-I8262? Are you trolling us?

The model number for the Galaxy S2 is i9100. Not i9100G or i8262.

You have a Galaxy S2 I9100 and you're downloading a I8262 Rom. Seriously?

I got lost in that post already. What does an HTC have to do with flashing a i9100?

geezus man didn't you read? I said clearly in one of my posts, you can brick your phone with the wrong firmware!

I would go with OGroteKoning's suggestion. Flash the stock firmware. Then take your time, for read some guides. Get familiar with custom roms first.
 
ok think I am just under stress cos kinda need this working by 2moro work but I am gonna figure another route so long, thanks
