But boring, ugly & inflexible (in its 4.1.2 guise).

Definitely this... And for some reason, appears very washed out in comparison to the AOSP ROM's I have moved over to.

On another note- does anyone think that the Adobe sRGB screen mode will be ported across from the S4?

I must say though, it seems Samsung are upping their game on the flexibility side, based on the reviews of the S4's JB 4.2.2. Problem is they are always one step behind, by the time their 4.2.2 starts becoming widely available, KLP 5.X will hit the market.

To be fair to them, they are still about two steps ahead of the other manufacturers in this regard...

You getting massive battery drain with the official Spanish 4.1.2 ROM?

I get at least twice the battery life with Slim 4.2.2.

EDIT: It's so strange I actually find myself not having to charge my phone every day before going to bed now, if I did this with Spanish rom it would have been dead in the morning, guaranteed.

I do think that it is more due to Slim using 4.2.2 as a base. Quite a few devices cited improved battery life on 4.2.2.

Google actually extended the Nexus 7 battery life when 4.2.2 was initially released, but changed it back for some reason.

Probably true because I also had more battery drain on Omega using 4.1.2, not as much as stock but still more than 4.2.2.

So you are getting twelve hours screen on time??

And I always thought my six hours was fantastic. :(

No, with Spanish rom my battery would drain even with the screen off. I even tested it for a few days as a pure stock install (without any 3rd party apps or email accounts) and it still drained.

Now at least I can get a full day with 3 hours screen on time and 2 days with about half that screen on time. Plus I have all the cool 4.2.2. features.

Like what, sounds like you havent properly experienced whats available out there.

I have used Cyanogenmod before, but didn't feel it gives enough extra for not being able to use my DSTV Drifta. And not a big fan of root/unroot apps the whole time.

Just really think the Samsung JellyBean ROM is fantastic. All the things I hated from the ICS ROM, like no calendar widget, weather/time widgets, SmartStay, improved Gallery, etc. , Samsung fixed with this ROM.

This is true - Sammy will take care of their flagships. HTC, Sony, Motorola etc are not really interested and you can count yourself lucky if you get more than one update. Most users go to XDA for their fixes

I would also like to know this. I can also get 6 hrs like you. The trick is in setting your phone up properly and getting rid of the drainers i.e. bloatware. There is ample info on XDA to help getting more life out of your battery.

It is a bit of a drainer in comparison to any AOSP based ROM- those Samsung services are battery killers.
If this is true, then there won't be a huge difference. I have tried various roms and my usage does not really differ hugely from one rom to another. Here you need to take care which kernel with which rom works best. It is a bit of trial and error, but one can easily get 2 days with light-moderate usage. The moment you go moderate-heavy usage, there is no way you will get 2 days between charges.

Again, setting up is the most important part of getting battery life. My best ever usage was 18 hrs with 7.5hrs screen on time. This was on stock ICS with all bloatware frozen and Siyah kernel working it's magic. These days I am running NeatROM because there is a bit more personalizing included and/or you can add bits and pieces to your liking.

Something really wrong with your setup then....maybe signal or an app?

Here is a screenshot of my screen-on time, and I will definitely get 6 hours or more + I have BBC News widget, weather widget, Flipboard widgets running with auto update on different home screens.

Do you use wifi or keep your S2 on 3G/HSPA+ the whole time & is your wifi router far from your phone?

Hi,

If you're rooted and have your gps working please post your "gps.conf" for me please? It sits in your "/etc" directory. Also state what OS you using (If I can get a gps.conf from a rooted jb/ics official that would be great). I'm using SlimRom but struggling to get my GPS working properly, so want to try mess with the gps.conf file before I try another ROM.
