Don't know if you missed this post, Mike

Oops. I missed it. Side tracked with the S4.
Will still order though. Daughter is going to need one. Give me a bump in the AM if I have forgotten again (yes - I do that often).

If anyone wants to hop on board then drop me an email to msmit at savitar dot co dot za.
If you are unable to collect from me when they arrive then there will be an additional cost of R100 for a courier so keep that in mind.

No worries :) I'm going to get it as soon as I sell my S2. It's a bit pricey but it looks like a good cover.

Hi guys. My S2 has a bright blue vertical line accross the screen. It seems to be exactly one pixel wide, and the full screen vertically. It is a sharp blue. It stays in exactly the same spot when I change to landscape mode.

It started yesterday while scrolling either browsing or on MyBB. I did not drop the phone. At first it was a single blue pixel - with a light shadow of a line going the rest of the way. Then today, it progressed to being a pixel wide and screen length vertically. It also remains there in off mode while charging and rebooting. Any ideas? The line is super bright blue....

Did you sit on your phone? Or apply any other kind of pressure?

It looks like a whole verical column of pixels, one pixel wide is permanently set on bright blue. It goes away when I press the power button to lock the screen.

Running stock? If you are I would just take it in if still under warranty. If not flash a different rom or stock to see if it is software related, if it isn't flash stock, reset counter and take in for warranty repair. You should get a new screen :)

The latest cm10.1 nightlies are a bit buggy, hope they can resolve it soon as the phone starts becoming unresponsive after a few hours, maybe a memory leak somewhere. A restart fixes it. That is the downside of using bleeding edge software though.

Seems to have resolved itself. Must have been a buggy nightly as everything is running smoothly again.

I've had this phone for 1.5 years and only last week did I discover power saving mode. Haha. It's excellent for preserving battery. For the most part I just leave my phone on power saving. I can actually make it to 10pm now without a charge. Before I was reaching for a cable before 5pm.

Hmmm, good idea...

Hey guys, I haven't flashed for ages now, my memory is a bit fuzzy. I am still running CM9 and Siyah [version] on my S2. I want to flash an updated kernel and Jellybam ROM. I am so scared to do this and brick my device. I have some questions:

I see the latest Siyah kernel says it does not support ICS, so if I flash this I am assuming that I would have problems. Would it help to flash the Jellybam ROM first then the kernel?

I am not sure if the flashing process of the ROM and kernel is standard or different for each version of Andriod and depending on the kernel you have or what not. I am more concerned about the fact that I am going from ICS to JB....

I have this guide to assist me with flashing with Odin, are these steps fine?

Instructions - ODIN (long)
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip the attached CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)

Then to flash Jellybam I have these steps:
Step 1: Download the JellyBam ROM zip file (link ) to your computer.
Step 2: Copy the zip file downloaded in step 1 to the internal SD card of the device.
Step 3: Switch off the device and boot into recovery by pressing and holding the buttons ‘Volume Up, ‘Power’ and ‘Home’ at the same time; until the recovery menu shows up.
Step 4: A Nandroid backup of the existing ROM is recommended, as the new ROM may not work out for you. This can be done by going to ‘Backup and restore’ > ‘Backup’.
Step 5: Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm the action on the screen that appears next. Once you do this select wipe cache partition and confirm the action as you did before.
Step 6: Go back to the main menu and choose ‘Advanced’. Now select wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action on the screen that appears next.
Step 7: Next select ‘install zip from SD card’ > ‘choose zip from SD card’. Locate the JellyBam ‘.zip’ file that you copied in step 2 and select it to begin installation.
Step 8: Go back to the main menu of recovery after the installation completes. From there, select ‘Reboot system now’.

Sorry, I am sure all these questions have been answered a bunch. I spent quite a lot of time on this very forum but it kind of info overload going through it, there are hundreds of pages.

Thanks!

quax, if you are going to flash modified ROMs and kernels, you don't need Odin. Your phone is already rooted. Just download JellyBAM, put it on your phone where you can find it easily. Get the kernel you want and put it in the same or other directory on the phone you will find easily. Then do everything from the phones recovery menu. Do a full wipe, flash JellyBAM. Reboot and install your apps or go back into recovery and flash the kernel you downloaded. Reboot and enjoy

If you already have CWM on your device (which you should, as you have Siyah kernel), you don't need to perform the Odin process again. Just follow the Jellybam procedure.* If I remember correctly, that is how I flashed my first JB ROM.

*Full disclosure: I do not take responsibility for any loss, damage or bricking that takes place should you follow these instructions!
