The new kernels have made the jig useless. I've read it on xda.

Good question i really dont understand why one would need to use that.

I have not found that.. sadly. :(

I would like

a) The ability to create a PPPoE connection to an ISP via my Wifi for the phone.
b) Setup a global phone proxy for a specific wifi connection.

There are others but those are the two things I want to do now.... Rooting required :(

Just got my Galaxy SII and found that Android does not by default support Ad Hoc proxies and had to root to resolve that problem.

On the SGS2, when you install a custom ROM via ODIN/Heimdall, the phones custom rom counter goes up by 1, and you get a big yellow exclamation mark at boot-up. Using a jig not only puts it into download mode - but also resets this counter to zero.

You could also just reinstall a secure kernel to get rid of the excamation mark, and flash ROMs and kernels from CWM.

How about sharing the info dude?

Sure. There is a program called Wargus.

It does two things:
1) the exe part converts the dos game into a android ready state.
2) the apk part runs these files.

When i get back to my pc i will post something more comprehensive with links.

not sure what i did, but about 3 days ago, my battery life suddenly dropped dramatically to about only 20 hours. i used to get 1.5 to 2 days with wifi on. when i look at battery usage it says that android system is using 50% percent. it was never that high before. what do you think could be chowing batttery life?

Any news apps or widgets?

Leveled up to ^android 2.3.5^ yesterday :)
XXKI3 ftw...
PS; I have no idea whats new.

Here is a link to the basic changes.

What I can confirm from using it is:
- Battery life is a LOT better and this is without rooting (Android process now only chowing about 15% of the battery as compared to previous 50~60% :D)
- Home screens now have endless loop (You can go from 1 to 7 and vice versa)

I would highly recommend this update to anyone not wanting to go the custom rom route like me :)

Guys, please give me some advice...
I'm very new to Android and SGS2 (moved from BB to this new phone last week Wednesday). I rooted it the day I got it with HellCat's kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182922).

If I wish to upgrade to this new firmware (XXKI3) and my current baseband is currently the following:
Can I do it, how do I do it and can I re-root again afterwards?

I pretty sure you can upgrade. Just follow the link in my previous post! As for rooting I am not sure as I don't do it
