Why bother with CSC? The ROM as is works fine. Only thing you get with CSC is bloatware.

Thanks for the reply.

I am new to android and S2.
Noob question. Is the CSC not important?
Something about specific to geographical region and APN settings for data connection and MMS for your service provider.
Was worried 3G, etc might not work correctly.
I wanted this file South Africa OJCKI1 CSC: http://www.multiupload.com/RL6J8FSVPN
I just followed instruction and this was part of instructions.

But beginner here so any advice appreciated.

I based the need for CSC on this post.

There is no 2.3.5 firmware for South Africa yet, but you can grab this 2.3.5 firmware from the Netherlands, works a treat. :)

After you've loaded the new firmware, do a factory reset on your phone. Type this into your dialer : *2767*3855# (just be aware that it will wipe everything on your phone)

You're almost done. Last step.

You need to change the Customer Sales Code (CSC) back to your South African service provider (think this firmware gives you a XEN code, which is for the Netherlands).

Type the following into your dialer : *#272*<IMEI># code and choose XFA for generic SA phone (worked for me), XFM for MTN, XFC for CellC, XFV for Vodacom, and don't know who XFE is. Maybe Virgin?

You can get your <IMEI> code with *#06# and it will list your 15 digit imei code.

If that doesn't work, here is the CSC codes for South Africa : South Africa OJCKI1 CSC: http://www.multiupload.com/RL6J8FSVPN

Install it via Odin, just select CSC and select the file you've downloaded. Just be aware that it might also wipe your phone.

So, after you've done this, your phone will be on 2.3.5 and you're good to go. Just be aware that Kies will tell you that you can't update your phone via Kies, because the firmware is obviously newer as what Kies can offer you. :)

I'm using a custom rom. I don't even know what my CSC is but my settings were automatically applied by Vodacom. I've installed other Samsung stock firmware before and never bothered with CSC and I've never had any issues.

Ok I will not bother about CSC.

Thanks again.

Hey, I have this phone and I have a problem with the camera. I've scoured the web and I've yet to find a solution - seems to be a common problem with the phone ? Whenever the sun's out and it's bright my camera gets this pink spot right in the middle when I take pictures.

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and has any tricks/solutions to fix it. I've tried cleaning the lense and looked for camera firmware updates but couldn't find any.

This video I found on Youtube illustrates the problem I'm having: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QznuN_ZUh-A

Some suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to get the feeling that Samsung botched up these ICS ROMS.

Just had a look on XDA wrt the UK O2 ICS ROM that was released yesterday & there people are also reporting bugs.

Maybe we should wait a few more months, before we can expect a 100% working ICS ROM from Samsung?

Nope ... it isn't just you. I had LPQ for a day and went back to proper GB LA4. I am dissapointed that they rushed a GB ICS version with bugs. Nothing was improved as far as I am concerned. It was a no-brainer for me.

I am waiting for the guys at CheckRom to do an ICS version to see if that will be better.

I think we can expect a proper stock ICS version by August from Samsung

What are these issues you talk of??
I used Lpq for about 2weeks and lp7 for about 2weeks without any noticeable problems.

There's quite a list, but issues I have picked up so far, on different official ICS ROMS :

1. Huge battery drain when using an Exchange mail account
2. bluetooth does not work
3. cannot connect to EAP wifi
4. streaming becomes erratic from phone to tv
5. Apps2SD does not work
6. Installing Text-to-speech engines doesn't give you option to select different voices
7. poor battery life
8. Display freezing up and having to do a battery pull

If you really want to, you can go and sift through 300 pages + .... here's the link.

Well, I must say I'm still very happy with reflashing 2.3.6 on my phone and it's gonna stay till Samsung sort their **** out.

So glad to know I'm not the only one! Yup, I'm back on GB XKI4 and everything works properly again.

I see Sony has also pushed back the release of their ICS ROMS, looks like ICS is not playing nice with all the UI customizations, or the devs need more time to get to know Android 4.0 - I really hope it's soon. :)

@kingrob, did you do a wipe before installing ICS?

Yes boss. Eish, it ees not so nise.

When you start the phone, hold down HOME + Power + Volume Up buttons and it will give you the recovery screen. Then you can scroll down and wipe everything, before installing a new ROM.

Cool, may I ask which wipe options you used? There are quite a few. Maybe you missed one of them?

Maybe try LP7? I've heard that it's the most stable ICS release thus far.

Cynogen mod look like they getting close to producing a nice rom for us. Otherwise foxhound has been working well for me, thinking about looking at some other ROMS though.
