I did try to fix permissions - it makes no difference.

I now installed the ROM as my primary room and flashed Siyah again. In ExTweaks auto install root is ticked. i tried removing root, and installing it again with ExTweaks - but it says the phone is already rooted. However, i can't change anything in ExTweaks that requires root. It says "access denied" when I try to save changes made in ExTweaks :(

Open up Superuser or SuperSU, and maybe update the binaries. It should automatically come up when you start the app.

SU says the binary is outdated (3.0.3) but when it tries to update it fails at step "Gaining root access".
 
Finally got it working. Did a complete wipe of primary rom, installed Neatrom with its own rooted kernel, boooted it up, rebooted into CWM recovery again and flashed siyah. All seems fine nou :D

Indeed! I see there's an open Europe and Chinese 4.0.4 on samfirmware.

However, seeing that those firmwares most likely will have noise reduction/cancellation on it, it's a no-no for me. So tired of flashing a new ROM and people on the other side complain about the echo.

LOL, umm, has anyone totally bricked their SG2? no download mode, no recovery mode, jig does not work, soft / hard resets dont work.... and got it working again?

dont know what happened, but flashed 4.0.4, but decided to flash back my nandroid backup because bt and camera were not working and BOOOM hard bricked...

Pls help, hehe

dont know what happened, but flashed 4.0.4, but decided to flash back my nandroid backup because bt and camera were not working and BOOOM hard bricked...

So earlier tonight I decided to format my internal storage to clean it out before I try flashing MIUI again (since after all, if it's offered in settings, what harm can it do, right?).

It seems I managed to softbrick my phone instead. At least, I assume that's what's happened to it: when I try to turn it on, I see the logo but then the screen goes dark again and I can get into download mode but not recovery mode.

I am actually reading that same thread while waiting for a stock rom to finish downloading. :P

It's working again now - actually only just finished booting after flashing (downloading took a loooooong time). I thought I already had a stock version somewhere, but wasn't able to find it.

Now to decide... go sleep, or tempt fate to try flashing again? Hmm... Decisions, decisions... :)

thanks for that, been reading it fo rthe last hour or so, but no luck, my SG2 wont do anything, jig doesnt even respond, usb cable plugged to puc doesnt respond - tried 2 other usb cables, tried different ports, tried another pc & a laptop, nudda :(

btw, just realised my signature in mybb is a bit out dated, hehe, was on Wanamlite 12.2 and Siyah 3.2.2 before I flashed the ics 4.0.4 stock rom... stupid camera & bluetooh had 2 give me *****, therefore decided to restore nandroid backup .... and thats when it went BOOOM :(

nope, as I mentioned in earlier post, cant get into anything, not download mode, not recovery mode...
I do know that the jig does work, because I thats how i flashed the stock 4.0.4 rom - plugged in jig, got into download mode and used odin...
 
I had some very good battery life through the night with Neatrom v1.1 and Siyah kernel - lost 2% battery over almost 6 hours with wifi and data off.

Things went a bit south since using the phone this morning though.. Maybe it just needs some settling in.
