I have installed the latest NEAK kernel v 2.1x and have to admit that this is really a great kernel. It is smooth, fast, has good battery life and I have had none of the previous reported problems like freezes, FC's or SOD. The slo-mo bug is non-existant too. The only drawback for me is it does not have dual boot functionality. So testing other roms is a bit of a schleb. So in order of preference, my favourite kernels are Siyah, NEAK, CF-Root, Dorimanx

EDIT: Hmmm ... I struggled to log onto work network this morning. It might not be kernel related although the kernel devs do play around with communication settings

Yeah currently using DorimanX's 4.8B and its very fast and stable at the moment. Loving it.

Yeah been running the whole day from full charge. Wifi running, 3g on when out (3hrs), 20 calls (+-5min each) some downloads and battery at 80%. Browsing + tapatalk. No FCs, SODS or slow-mo. Tweaked a bit. Very nippy as well.

Will def. be my kernel for a while.

I would just like to inform you guys that wanam's latest ROM has exceeded my expectations. Battery life is phenomenal, no issues, everything fast and smooth.

UPDATE:
I uninstalled NEAK - battery drain overnight is more than Siyah (between 2% and 4%). This is too high for me. When coming out of deep sleep, the response was very slow.

Then I tried Dorimanx 4.8B. I still believe I will move over permanently to this kernel, but the wifi signal is too weak with this kernel. So I am back on ol' trusty Siyah 3.3.3d
 
I want to install the stock rom on my phone but I seem to be stuck. I downloaded the rom from sammobile.com but in the zip file I only have one long filename that ends with xxx-HOME.tar.md5. How do I use that with odin? Do I place it in PDA or PHONE or?

You must unzip the file. Then you should be left with a file ending .tar.md5. This goes into PDA
