Upgraded to JB this morning. I ave not had much time to check it out, but it looks noticeably quicker.

How do I get rid of bloatware like Chaton, Google+, etc?

I use titanium to freeze all the bloatware. Keeps the freeze settings intact between flashes too.

Where did you get JB for South-Africa? I'm also waiting....

Just flashed JB but now I don't have root.
OK, let me have it, what have I done and how do I get root back?

Flash CF Root from Odin.

In future, use Mobile Odin and you will maintain root across ROMS. Just make sure you clear Recovery else you will need to flash CF Root again.

OK I have a problem and I'm going out of my mind, kinda.

When I got my S3 (Vodacom branded) I had to get a new MTN microsim as the microsim I had in my iPhone4 was too old.

Did a sim swop and all was well for a day or so. Up until my phone was completely blocked. No calls, no sms, no data. Phoned help centre and they gave me some magic code to get it all working again.

Now the phone is functioning, but most of my calls goes straight to voicemail, even though I have 100% signal. Sometimes the call just doesn't go through, sometimes it says the number is incorrect and once I was connected to a random person.

I've tried pretty much everything, entered a bunch of more miracle codes, to no avail. I've now cancelled all forwarding to voicemail and waiting to see how it goes.

My gut tells me there's something wrong with the new sim card.

or

The MTN sim in the Vodacom branded phone is not feeling at home.

Pleeeease someone have some advice on this??

Have you tried asking somone else with an MTN sim if you can try theirs in your phone?

Microsims are not that plentiful around here, and calls do come through after you switched the phone on and off (like after inserting a new sim card).

So basically if I want to test this, I would have to borrow a sim for a couple of hours.

I'm using an MTN microsim in a 'Vodacom branded' (flashed Omega Jelly Bean so not anymore) S3 without any issues. It worked perfectly for several months on the stock VC firmware.

Thanks.

Still think it might be a dodgy sim.

I checked for any software updates now and there is one! I will update later tonight on wifi at home. Any idea what it is? I'm on MTN and I'm completely stock.

It's definitely not JB. More than likely the ICS update the rest of the world got in June.

The latest CM10 nightlies seem to be nice and solid.

Only issue I've been having so far is that scrolling through a long list of messages in whatsapp seems to lag slightly - but I can quite happily live with that.
