Ok....het just left. My verdict from my very short time with it. Great screen...good looking phone...horribly plasticy in true Samsung style. I much prefer the build of my RAZR tnx very much.

Those that dont mind the plastic look and feel...beautiful phone and display.

Didn't you have an N8? How do you think it compares?

Well used a One X for couple days and got the S3 this afternoon. Have to say both phones very very good. The quality on the one x way better and also reckon the screen is better.

is there a way to force the s3 to use wifi for internet access? Can someone point out where to find this setting? I've put the wifi connection on, connected it to my adsl router, but there doesn't seem to be any activity off the wifi

Disable mobile data...

Pull down menu, scroll to right, make sure mobiledata is off (not green)
Or

Settings>more settings>mobile networks>packet data (untick)

Or
just get a widget...

I see the samsung online store has it for R7800 for 16GB. Samsung mobile store in Clearwater Mall had it for R8k, also 16GB. Is this for the 32GB you offer, because if it is, that it flipping cheap especially for Vodacom to sell outright! Normally about a grand more outright IIRC from my previous dealings...

Yes...32Gig White. That is what I would charge though.

If you have an S2 already, I'd definitely say it's not worth the rather high price to upgrade. But if you still have something older like most of us, the 3 is significantly better. It does have the one great feature, the eye tracking. Not talked about a lot but I really think that's the first useful feature (ie not a gimmick) in a long while, especially for browsing or reading. The screen although not perfect is really also a big step up. The S2 had a very low resolution for its size. Lower than many phones released a year earlier iirc.

Cool - thanks for sharing your thoughts. I currently have a much older and cheaper phone so whatever I get will be a significant step up. I'm just wondering whether the S2 prices might drop given that the S3 has now been launched, thus possibly offering better value for someone like me who is not necessarily looking for the latest and greatest.

I wonder if we will ever see this variant of the device, this might just persuade me to upgrade from my galaxy S2...

After storming the world with the launch of its flagship smartphone Galaxy S3 a few weeks ago, Samsung Electronics is reportedly planning to launch a special version of its latest Galaxy series.

The Christian Post reported that a special version of Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone will be launched in Korea. It added that the Korean electronic giant is planning to launch a new Galaxy S3 variant that features both a 1.4Ghz quad-core Exynos CPU and 2GB of RAM.

Through this will probably end up being like the special HD variants of the Galaxy S2 and will only launch in Korea...

From what I've read, that's the version the Americans and Koreans will get. There's a whole debate going on over at Xda over which model is better, the International version (the ones we have) or the soon to be released American version (the one mentioned in the article)
