From what I've read, that's the version the Americans and Koreans will get. There's a whole debate going on over at Xda over which model is better, the International version (the ones we have) or the soon to be released American version (the one mentioned in the article)

No the american version features the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 dual-core chip and 2GB RAM which at least in the last iteration was quite inferior to the exynos chip. For the previous generation {galaxy S2} the exynos chip was the top of the pack by quite a margin and also had the far superior GPU.

I was following the debate on XDA because I was quite interested in which GPU was superior but all the fans of the Snapdragon chip were just saying the benchmarks were broken for the mali 400 GPU without offering any proof. I personally think the exynos chip will be the superior chip for this generation again but we will have to wait and see.

The Korean version features the best of both world's the exynos chip with the mali 400 and 2GB of RAM all the other versions compromise in some regard, the American version drops the SOC to dual core {and in my opinion a inferior GPU} but ups the RAM and the international version has the superior SOC but drops the RAM to 1GB {which considering jellybean and hopefully dual booting ubuntu are around the corner may not be the greatest move}>

Anyone know of some software that will show the power of this phone yet? Most intensive app/game I have is Shadowgun, but I'm guessing it doesn't even scratch the surface of what it's capable of. Seen this running on the dualcore toys :p

Max Payne Mobile*is coming for select Android powered devices this Thursday, June 14th. This*full classic Max Payne experience, is optimized for Android devices and features HD graphics, high-resolution textures, Social Club connectivity, user-customizable controls and gamepad support for select USB controllers.

More here: http://m.rockstargames.com/newswire...ming-for-android-this-thursday-june-14th.html

I see the S3 isn't on the list of supported devices, but I'm confident that it will run on our phones.

Got my Galaxy SIII on sunday, but for the life of me I cannot find screen protectors, covers or any accessories. Anyone know of a supplier with accessories in stock in the Johannesburg area?

Seems normal given you have the device since last week. It will sync up your contacts with gmail (if you have never synced your phone with gmail). Some of the widgets might be set to refresh every 15 mins or more frequently. If you have weather apps, they could also be refreshing very often. Then your gmail is also syncing.

Also try check all social networking apps (twitter, fb etc), news apps etc and check their refresh intervals. Set those to manually refresh or to the longest interval. It should cut down on your data usage.

What app are you using to track your data usage? There are some apps which will tell you whats consuming the data. Try Onavo.

the problem is that my android OS has high data usage on mobile data, but bearly anything on wifi.... I have done the following:

with regards to sync:
weahter app is manual
whatsapp, google only ones syncing on mobile data
google syns only contact, gmail, calender
gmail only 1 day mail, images on wifi
developers options: dnt keep actvities, limit background STANDARD
on onavo i selected FB to run only on wifi, no auto refresh, data usage section - no background

Anyone get their S3 from Autopage on topup 315?

Its pretty cheap on top up 315. R3279 (R136 pm). Think voda pay in is something like R180 but with free 250 MB. Not sure if the voda contract via autopage will gift you the 250 mb as well.

They're listing the blue version, but I'm guessing there's going to be a stock problem.

EDIT: They're saying its cobalt blue. Not sure if that's the same. There was a rumour that samsung were changing out their 'pebble' blue for something more metallic.

Thanks for the quick response. I will probably root my phone as soon as I get my micro sim. I've had my phone for a week now and haven't been able to use it. :( The service of the Mtn franchise in my town really sucks.

Hi Guys,
Got the Galaxy S3 after coming from a Blackberry 9900. Firstly, let me say that it's a great phone. You can easily see it is classes above the blackberry.
However, I'm experiencing the following issues and was wondering if maybe I'm doing something wrong or if someone can advise:
1) My biggest concern - Size - I have small hands, so for me, the device feels uncomfortable. I either have to hold with 2 hands, or I have to slide the phone vertically and horizontally in my hand to reach each side of the screen. Is this something you get used to, or is this phone not designed for people with smaller hands?
2) Notifications - On my blackberry, when an email/whatsapp message came, a little star appeared next to the icon. On the GS3, I can only get a notification bar notice, not on the actual program icon?
3) 2 gmail accounts - can I have 2 seperate icons for each of my accounts like I have on my Blackberry?
4) Shrink-to-fit - the web browser doesn't shrink pages to fit the screen when I double click on text. Is there a browser/utility to do this?

Any other suggestions for an old BB user?
