Samsung Galaxy S3

Updated my S3 to Jelly Bean lasyt night, and I must say they've done well !
Got it last week, went with a Amber Brown color - looks quite Steampunk !

Nope.
In fact, Li-ion batteries like the one in your S3 (and in general) retain their lifetime much better when not fully depleted every now and then. Bottomline: Recharge it when you can/want and try not to run it down completely (like I do with mine sometimes *selfslap*)

Edit: CAUTION! When Googling for ways to restore crappy rechargeable batteries (especially in notebooks) you might run across the infamous "put it in a freezer x 4" solution. This used to work with older batteries but can kill a Li-ion battery. I almost did that the other night.

Is there anyone here who's ever tried to fix a S3 screen by himself?

Reason I'm asking is that my GF's S3 has a horizontal crack on the screen going all the way through. It doesn't seem to have affected the touch response (I'm guessing that means the Digitizer is intact). She has a quote for R1.9K to replace the screen, digitizer, and screen glass lens.

I'm wondering now whether the "screen glass lens" (featured here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PINK-Replac...149?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b7ad080d) could be all that's cracked. In that case it'll be much cheaper to replace and I'll do it myself.

Thanks, some people reported getting 4.1.2 OTA. Guess they aren't running the stock SA firmwares.

I got my S3 LTE on Monday, not sure what version it was on then, but updated itself OTA to 4.1.2 the same day.

You will still have to replace the digitiser when replacing the screen, because of the bonding process.

There is a video on YouTube on how to do it, but it is an immensely ugly proces..

Rather take it to a service centre and have them do the job.

Mine is on charge every night, and at work in the afternoons I plug it into the PC as well to charge. Batteries just don't last :o
 
I charge mine every night and at least once a day... I did the same with my s1 and s2 and never had any problems
 
Got a new S3 yesterday. Tried very hard to like it but if there are any unhappy iphone owners out there interested in a swop pls pm me. Straight swop for 4S less than month old or S3+R2K for iphone 5
