Use nova as a launcher. Freeze touchwiz. With Nova you can change the icon, remove or edit the label, gestures (e.g. swipe down to open notifications, which helps with big screens, swipe up to open recent apps), change the layout, number of rows, etc

Also ex dialer is better than stock on the s3 mostly because it has better prediction and it displays multiple predictions so that your key presses are minimized.

FYI Again you need to install the ex add-on to dismiss missed calls. There are two, 1 that works without root.
 
Can anyone tell me if the latest South African 4.1.2 XFE (I9300XXELLB_I9300OJVELL3_XFE.zip) is unbranded? Considering flashing it over my current XFA 4.1.1.

It shows the Vodafone logo at startup. Not sure what the big deal is, if this is what you're talking about?

Out of curiosity, why is this such an issue? You only see the logo for 3 seconds when you start up the phone, never ever while it's on. I have not noticed any branding anywhere except for that?

Asks the guy that has a problem with a dialer icon :p. I don't like vodacom branding on my phone that is all.

BTW is the apn + internet browser also defaulted to vodacom?

LOL. but at least I only see that splash for 3 seconds on startup, which is almost never :p Not sure about APN, but it wouldn't bother me, I am at Vodacom.

EDIT: Browser is not, but surely even if it was, it would be easy to change forever?
 
I can copy data to the clipboard but as soon as I want to paste it I dont get the option. Any idea whats going on here and how to fix it? I have restarted it but it does nothing. I have 4.1.1 on my phone.
 
So one thing I've noticed on instagram is that some people can post...ummm...intersting icons/smileys. Like the sun, fire, ice, dogs. It's just special types of ASCII I would guess. Thing is how do I get these fonts to appear on my keyboard?

My phone suddenly stuck on first start up screen can even do factory reset
No new apps downloaded
Not a rooted phone
Any ideas what do do or do I have a expensive paperweight

You can reload the stock firmware, coz you should still have download mode. Pull the battery, wait 10 seconds, power up by holding power + home+ volume down. If you can get into download mode, then you can flash the stock firmware. Google for instructions.

This doesn't require root as far as I know.
