Samsung Galaxy S3

Do you use a different charger? Maybe at work etc? If I use a fong kong charger at work and try charge my phone at home with original charger it takes long.... but if I stop using the fong kong it comes right.
For the most part the last few months i found that my USB port on laptop charges the phone quicker than mains. The phone has been on charge for 24 hours on mains now and is only now on 99%.

Hmm... ok, so maybe next time I will try charging via USB again. So irritating how the charging acts up every so often over the last 12 months, then it comes right magically somehow.

Charging my S3 is acting up again :( It's been fine for a few months, but now it's gone back to charging very slowly, even charging the whole night only got me to 70% full. Even before going to sleep I got it to 30% after a couple of hours and that was with the phone being off!

Upgraded to 4.1.2. a couple of weeks ago, but I can't imagine it would only cause an issue now. Anyone else experiencing this of late?

You're using mains right? I once bought a piece of crap car charger at hartebeesport in the side of the road. Couldn't charge the thing at all. Well put it this way, I was half way through Botswana and it had only charged 20%. So bought a decent one at a Cell C store and no problem since.

Having the same problem with my S3.

3 nights now been on charge the whole night and it charged only up to 60%

I only use original chargers. S2 and S3.

Rebooted after the first night but still the same problem.

I've been wanting to flash a custom ROM for quite some time now. Maybe a good time to try that and see if it fixes the problem.

Any good and easy to follow guides for flashing CM ROMS?

Thanks.

Anybody know why my LED notifications might not be working on CM10.1? Perhaps I am just missing a setting somewhere. Apps are all set up correctly but no LED flickering when it is supposed to .

And a noob question. Do I install the new nightly build everyday or just when I see something on the changelogs that affect me?

Look at keeping nightly updates everyday when you see them usually they fix something that is a common issue or so

As for custom roms iv now found my home on omega v6 aokp and what a awesome rom fast smooth and battery is damm awesome love it compared to stock android omega roms

As far as I can tell you need to set up app notifications individually with the newer builds, which is not ideal. You can do so by going to: system settings>system>Pulse notification light

Thanks. That did it. Think I accidentally switched it off when I disabled the battery LED light.

Guys with charging problems:

If you use a USB extension cable, try it without.

Also, try different USB cables.

I used an extension USB cable from the mains and I had the problem of not fully charging overnight. Removed the cable and the problem went away.

Hope this helps someone.

Yep experienced the same usb extentions don't charge fully weird but just doesn't

Kalahari has 32GB Transcend Ultra microSD cards for R224. Seems like a good price so I'm getting one. Moving all my media across will free up a lot of space. My current card is only useful for basic backups.

Takealot has them for R 219 but the reviews say they die after a month!

Yes, i was using mains (and the original charger that came with the phone) when it took over 24 hours for a full charge.

Last night did a charge via USB on my PC, and it charged from 45% up to 1005 in a couple of hours. Will see if the problem with mains charging persists and whether i have to stick to USB only from now on.

P.S. I only own one charger and cable so have never used a USB extention cable. Did switch off and reboot the phone while on mains and that did nothing to help the speed of charging.

I don't mind paying a few rand to buy from Kalahari. Super fast free delivery and excellent customer service if I need to return anything.

I've never had any issues with Transcend products, but I'll see how it goes. If it dies after a month, the warranty will get it replaced.

Updated my wifes phone on Saturday from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2.

Stock MTN OTA update +-170MB
XFA
PDA: I9300XXEMA2
CSC: I9300OJVEMA1

Could someone on Cell C please provide the version info for the stock 4.1.2 update? Thanks:whistle:

Early days I know but.....

Really liking this CM10.1. Battery life has shown a massive improvement from stock ROM.

Seems a lot less bloated and no issues yet.

What are the biggest differences between Omega aokp ROMS and the CM ROMS?

Probably stability more than anything. CM Nightlies aren't stable releases.

My battery life is great on Omega AOKP. ROM Toolbox Pro, BetterBatteryStats, RAM Booster Pro and some common sense with system settings is all you need to optimise battery life, unless your ROM sucks. Getting an app to force deep sleep can help too, but I don't bother as my phone loses very little charge when idle.
