I've noticed that every now and then my phone beeps when it is fully charged, and the backlight goes on. Now this is extremely annoying when I'm charging my phone at night, and it beeps at 2am

I've noticed that every now and then my phone beeps when it is fully charged, and the backlight goes on. Now this is extremely annoying when I'm charging my phone at night, and it beeps at 2am
It will annoy you more when your battery starts dying as a result of being overcharged every single night.

I charge my phone when I sleep some nights and I don't even care if its on charge for a few hours after reaching 100%. I too like to live dangerously.

This is what I think as well. I've heard the phone beep, and the backlight go on, and then back to sleep. After a few hours it beeped again, perhaps it started draining the battery, and was beginning to charge it again? Unless I was dreaming

Not quite. Omega is based on Touchwiz while CM is based on vanilla Android. So on CM you lose the Samsung specific features such as multi-window and smartstay etc.
The CM 10.1 nightlies are very stable every day roms. The new ones are every day are just very minor tweaks. I update about every two weeks and barely notice any difference most of the time.

I'm talking about Omega AOKP. It's not based on TouchWiz.

I checked it out today and it looks very very nice.
So I basically just flash this the same as I would CM10.1 Nightlies... Except I don't have to flash Gapps too?
Do you know of any known issues when restoring apps and data via Titanium? Spent so much time setting up everything on CM from scratch... Would like to avoid that part if possible. (CM guide says to avoid restoring from Titanium. Same with Omega?)
I don't use Titanium, as I don't want to be stuck with a root requirement. Also, I find it makes a simple job unnecessarily complex. MyBackup Pro has never failed me, and I back up everything with it. No problems restoring apps and data on stock, Omega, SuperNexus or Omega AOKP. Nova Launcher Prime manages its own backup of my system layout.
I haven't installed GApps as I hate the Google bloatware. The Play Store is included in the ROM.
As with any ROM change, you just have to clear your caches and factory reset before installing. I use CWM to install ROM's off internal memory, in case external card formatting issues pitch up.
I recommend you have ROM Toolbox Pro and RAM Booster Pro installed. Between them they can keep half your RAM free.

Correct me if I am wrong but CM and Omega are "Rooted ROMS", right? (My apps that needed rooting worked flawlessly after I flashed CM, so I assume it comes rooted)

I'm very interested in this comment - can you confirm the bit about the data, especially that in the /data directory? I was under the impression that you needed root to access other apps data. The blurb in the store doesn't make this too clear.

The issue comes in if you try and restore system apps, but normal user apps that you've downloaded aren't a problem. When restoring from Titanium just make sure to select the option to restore only user apps.
They are rooted, yes. I've never lost root ever across the ROM's I've used.
I think root is required to backup app data. By 'data' I actually meant messages, contacts, call records etc. - MyBackup Pro separates backups into 'apps and media' and 'data'. If I remained on stock firmware on a future device, losing my app data wouldn't bother me. Evernote is always in sync, mSecure syncs with Dropbox, email is just a few settings etc. - I'm more concerned with avoiding several gigs of app downloads.

No idea. Everything takes ages to come out here. Just flash Omega and get it right now.

Flashed the Omega AOKP ROM and when it rebooted there was no play store or option to sync with my Gmail account.
Flashed GApps again and that fixed that.
Everything is working now except for my mobile network. It does not connect to MTN or takes very very long before registering on the network.
Any idea why that would happen?
EDIT: when it does eventually register and get a signal on MTN it also goes no higher than Edge. And I always have 3G or higher at home. 2G option is not selected in the network settings.

CarbonRom is also a great rom. I've been running it on my Note 2 for a couple of months now. It has great features and is very fast and stable.
Perhaps the Play Store was included with version 5 of Omega AOKP then, and remained when I updated.
I also have issues connecting to Cell C by default, and I would like the option of WCDMA connectivity only. I get around the network issue by just selecting Cell C as my network in the mobile settings when I restart my device. Mildly annoying, but it takes a few seconds and I seldom restart so I'm not going to spend time investigating. My internet uses HSPA+ and the speeds are good, so WCDMA hasn't been an issue.
I'm getting pretty decent battery life using the 01/04/2013 Cyanogenmod nightly!
