Is this the official S3 thread... there's like 3 threads discussing the s3..

Anyways first post with the S3...
First impressions.. screen feels long..

So when you say the screen feels long do you mean the phone is to big:D

Other personal impressions about the phone's would be nice.

Not really.. I'm coming from a galaxy Note. So I think the main issue is actually a loss of width. Hence it "feels" long .

Some other impressions after having it for a few hours.. the white feels slippery.

I forgot to mention the biggest drawback/disappointment is that it has stupid Vodacom splash screen at startup and ugly red wallpapers ...

Yes the S3 reminds me of my S1. Also have the same slippery feel.

What's your take on the white sexier than the black? I personally will wait for the black model or rather just get the S2 as I still think it's a stunning phone and I bet they will be going cheap on contract.

There is no black model IINM, just a ruby blue backing. I'm not too fussed by the colour, would be covered by a case anyway.

There are only a marble white and a pebble blue (delayed due to a manufacturing fault) colour options.

Its the opposite situation for the One X. Vodacom guys can't get their hands on that yet. We can't get our hands on the S3.

Well, the launch is on Thursday - they should have their deals out by then.

Hey [-]Crab[/-]Sandman

I changed my mind, about the GS3 and Vodaworld, after they actually let me try one. It's amped up a lot since my last vist BTW, most stores now let you try a real phone instead of a cardboard cut-out or dummy phone. I'm getting one of these bad boys for sure.
In short:

The htc One X can eat a cart-load of dicks with its non-replaceable battery, non-existent SD card slot and non-being in SA despite launching earlier than the SGS3. Neither looks particularly great, the One X looks like every other htc phone (fugly, but not like it matters), only bigger, and the SGS3 looks like an iphone 3 that's been flattened, and made out of plastic, which is frankly a bit sad for a range-topper phone in 2012. (The best build quality of any plastic phone since the Sony Ericsson W800 though.) The Sony Xperia S is gorgeous, beating both the others hands-down in the looks (and sadly, build quality) department. It still has the awful Rachel (or whatever they call it now) UI which looks pretty much exactly the same as the Xperia X10 I got 2 years ago. Only without Timescape destroying everything. And Gingerbread instead of ICS.

The Galaxy S3 though, has its faults, namely being made out of plastic like a cheap LG phone from 2001, or a Blackberry from 2012 :(. The other is having the most unimpressive AMOLED display I've ever seen. I've always associated the AMOLED display with incredible colours vs the TFT-LCD types, however the SGS3 looks like an LCD display with a slightly cold colour temperature. I confirmed this by comparing it side-by side with my Motorola RAZR, the RAZR had way better colours, especially red and orange. The SGS3 however showed that the Pentile display could look just as great as the RGB disply of the Xperia S, resolution-wise.

The GS3 wins though, because of its sheer power, battery life, big-ass screen, and the Touchwhatever interface (and my personal favourite, the video player) being vastly improved.

And before it seems like I'm becoming an Appletard and close to raving about nebulously-defined nonsense like "user experience", "it just works (as long as you install our spyware)" or the latest "design language" :wtf:, I've tried it, I know it's not a perfect phone, as highlighted above, and the price is quite high (although about R1000 less than my previous phone), but I'm still getting one.

^not a bad break down..
But I have to disagree about the HTC it's a sexy phone... do'nt get me wrong the s3 is equally sexy but the feel of the One X is amazing.
The micro sd and removable battery are a Big Plus on the s3.

Another annoying thing is I can't get scrolling wallpapers on the S3...
