Samsung Galaxy S3

Have you tried to change the display setting to 'Dynamic', instead of 'Normal'?

I found the normal color profile to be a bit dull on my Galaxy S2.

^not a bad break down..
But I have to disagree about the HTC it's a sexy phone... do'nt get me wrong the s3 is equally sexy but the feel of the One X is amazing.
The micro sd and removable battery are a Big Plus on the s3.

Another annoying thing is I can't get scrolling wallpapers on the S3...

Well, that depends on whether you like every other htc phone or not. If you liked the look of the Desire, you will like the look of the One X. If you liked the look of the HD2, you will like the One X. I just never thought they did it right after the Tytn, which a few others copied by the way.

Do you mean live wallpapers? Those worked great on the GS3 units I tried...

Edit: Also yes, I tried dynamic VS the RAZR's standard (and only) setting, actually I reduced brightness to save battery.

To get rid of the Vodacom branding, you can try to change the CSC code to generic SA....think it's XFA.

Unfortunately it will wipe your phone and not sure if it will work on the S3.

Heaven only knows why Vodacom wants to replace the supersexy S with an ugly white/red slideshow.

Well I've used my fair share of phones.. previous one was a galaxy Note. Before that an HTC Desire. So maybe I am biased to HTC.. but I think their phones are very well designed .. holding a one X and an s3 the OneX feels a lot better. The polycarbonate does make a difference.

Nope not live wallpapers but static ones that scroll when you change home screens. It works fine on the Note.. not sure why it doesn't on the S3..!

@Zakdoc; Please give a direct comparison to the Note.
I normally upgrade every 6 months or so but so far the GS3 is not convincing me to give up my Note. Very keen to view your opinion.

As a previous note owner (sold it due to personal preference regarding size), the S3 suits me better - size wise, I'd put it in the middle between the S2 and Note, as the screen size indicates. It fits comfortably in my jeans front pocket, is useable with one hand, and provides the extra screen size I was looking for. Touchwiz UX is MUCH less intrusive - this is the first Galaxy Android device I am considering using with stock OS. Performance is really snappy, even compared to Note with ICS, but battery life is less stellar than the reviews led me to believe it would be. I loose about 6% overnight with it on flight mode. With the S2 and CM9, it was less than 1%.

That said, I am a light user, and am confortable that it will take me through 2 days with (again, for me), heavy usage. First charge yielded just over 48 hours, with 3h50 minutes screen on, 40 minutes of voice calls, about 20 minutes of YouTube streaming in HD, WiFi on and syncing mail and calendar full the time, and 14 hours on flight mode while I slept. Fully charges in about 3 hours.

Downsides: white only for the next couple of months, and awful Vodacom branding in bootup and shutdown screens. Also available from Samsung HMD stores, but about R250 more than at Vodacom on cash purchase.

Thanks for that feedback, I've been worried about the S3's size given it's only a CM smaller than the note all round.

Whats the warranty like from Samsung South Africa compared to VodaCom's. I'd more not to have their branding on my phone.

Vodacom always ruin the phones with their tacky splash screens on boot. Unfortunately you might need to flash it with the OEM rom to clear that.

Samsung SA also offers a 24 month warranty, according to staff at the Clearwater store.

What exactly do you love about it?

The feel, its lighter than I expected but really love the feel.
The user interface is brilliant. Coming from the HTC desire I thought it would take a while to get used to touchwiz considering how often people have said that its not the best interface but thus far I am enjoying it.
The clarity on the pictures is unbelievable!
Love the screen, everyone who has seen it especially here in the office immediately comments about the screen.
Just a few points...
