Samsung Galaxy S3

Not sure if sarcastic...

Seriously I had a chance to hold one in hand at the Samsung demo thing in east gate. Nicely sized screen and very good feel. It froze a few times the guy was trying to demo voice commands for me but it is a very nice phone.

I got to say, this phone has to be the most advance cell phone ever designed.
I am shocked at what you can do. I do not think there is one thing you cannot do.
I do not for one second see how Apple will compete with this device.

I have seen an official Samsung Pouch on some overseas sites - nothing locally. If anybody sees one locally or on a local site, do post on this thread.

I managed to get one at the Samsung store in gateway Durban. It was a bit tight in the beginning but took shape awesomely after some use. :D

Your first Android?

Oh yes the build quality is excellent. Hard to believe it's entirely plastic.

I love the Llama app. It automatically detects that I'm home, switches on WiFi, syncs my new files like new pics I've taken automatically with Dropbox and adjusts all of my notifications, sound and display settings. It then detects when I leave home and makes the necessary adjustments. Awesome...

Samsung dropped the ball with the fragile screen of this phone. I know 4 people that have this phone and 3 of the 4 has scratches on their screen ( that had the sgs2 before with 3 of them having no screen scratches ) . And apparently YouTube agrees with my observation.

I got my SIII yesterday! Will definitely check out this Llama app :D

Does anyone else have the issue with the paint on the silver strip and home button coming off?
I'm on a serious downer now after returning my one x.
I want the s3 but this is the only thing that worries me.
Also what's the best cash deals at the moment?

I've read of a few people complaining about this - but I haven't had any issues yet.

The thing is, I don't like keeping my phones in pouches, but I do look after them. I read of someone experiencing this even though she normally keeps her phones in a very good condition.
I nearly splashed on one today, it is very difficult to have this kind of patience lol. Does the phone come with a card in the box or only the internal memory.

I also noticed the one x is more expensive at most places cash. Even more expensive on contract at cell c.
Kinda crazy if you ask me.

My S3 is like new still, but that's probably just because it is quite new.

Rather wait for your new batch HTC's, you're not gonna be happy with the build quality of the SIII. Trust me, you've waited long enough, try holding out a little longer.

Yeah but some people have already had this issue, which is worrying considering the age of the phone. Then again it could be mishandling of the phone.

Any particular reason for saying this?

The poorer build quality is set off by some other features though. Which I was obviously willing to forgoe as I chose the one x even though I thought the s3 was the better phone.

HTC made me lose some faith with the wifi issue though.

So far I have no problems with paint coming off or any other problems.

I love my S3. Not as stylish as my 4S though.

I'm not worried about the update either. I run the screen on maximum brightness and also use all the features (wifi, gps, etc) everything on. Battery doesn't last a whole day but that's why I have a spare battery with desktop charger.
