Samsung Galaxy S3

Any particular reason for saying this?

The poorer build quality is set off by some other features though. Which I was obviously willing to forgoe as I chose the one x even though I thought the s3 was the better phone.

HTC made me lose some faith with the wifi issue though.

I wrote that in the light of most of your Q's. In other words PURELY on build quality ... nothing else, not even on the better screen.
There's absolutely no doubt that the SIII is the better phone, but the quality is shockingly terrible. I for one have the silver strip chipping off. Top right corner.... and I do look after my gadgets, trust me.
Sometimes wonder what a success story HTC would be if it wasn't for their piss poor marketing department, yes and they really cocked up with the WiFi issue, still don't understand how these companies allow something like this to happen.

Back to SIII, many people reporting the SIII to be very little scratch resistant, oh and just wait another six months for the white paint to come off that beautiful /insert sarcasm home button and also don't drop this phone from knee height!

On the positive side, I'm all for performance... I'm running the latest CM nightly. The phone is blistering fast, battery reading must be wrong as I'm currently sitting on 80% after 1d1h15m with 1h Screen time on, 30mins voice call and some other things. It is Sunday so no heavy use today.

I got the dark blue Galaxy S3 which has a brushed metal effect - still plastic though. It just looks and feels better than the white but I still can't help but notice the plastic feel to it, overall. The other aspects of the phone make up for it though...

So far I have no problems with paint coming off or any other problems.

I love my S3. Not as stylish as my 4S though.

I'm not worried about the update either. I run the screen on maximum brightness and also use all the features (wifi, gps, etc) everything on. Battery doesn't last a whole day but that's why I have a spare battery with desktop charger.

Why max brightness? One of the things about the amoled i noticed was the almost artificial colors. So increasing brightness increases that why would you want that.

A blue one would've been nice - but I'm plenty happy with the white one :D

Unfortunately the latest version of Readers Hub detects whether your phone is rooted or not, it's more of an inconvenience than a problem though having to hide root each time you want to use the app.

Um, just deny it SU access? Shouldn't bother you again

International Galaxy S III Cell Standby Power Drain Issue Identified - you might want to flash this fix if you're rooted. I've noticed quite an improvement to battery life in general.

Sorry to burst your bubble here..... there is nothing wrong with the cell-standby on the device. Its only the "reporting" that's wrong. While sleeping I get -3mA drain and something like -0.2%/h. It simply can't get better than that.

Ps. Everybody using Tapatalk... just have a look. I lately only use my tablet for tapa, but noticed that it chew a lot of battery on my SIII

Apparently this doesn't improve actual battery life - just improves the reporting thereof.

Going to flash it myself in a couple of minutes.

Agree. this only improves reporting however I noticed on stock, the reporting was somewhat skewed which indirectly affected my battery (from my experience). After flashing this, I noticed a much improved battery life drain from standby. use it, don’t use it.

Just flashed the mod now - will see after my next full charge whether or not there is any battery life improvement.

:)

I just can't decide whether to get the S3 or the One X. I've ben using my HTC Desire for over 2 years now and love it. Dunno if is hould swop over to Samsung. Any info will be appreciated from users who have ahd both. Is Touchwiz on the Samsung more or less the same as Sense UI on the HTC?
