What network are you on? MTN? I'm on Vodacom and there is no update available.
It's not yet ready for anything other than playing with it for a few minutes - too many unpredictable results, as in call audio stops working, minimal set of working settings, and app compatibility. I found it to be no smoother than CM9 RC2, and a whole lot less functional.+1

That illustrates what I mean with "unpredictable results". I flashed over CM9 as per the preview thread on XDA, and did not have a good experience. The CM10 discussion thread over at XDA paints a similar picture of hit and miss experiences.

Did you flash the correct GApps?
Do I need to unroot before I do the update and if yes, how do I do that?
Seeing that I'm Android noob, does root work the same as jailbreak? When Jellybean becomes available for the Galaxy S3 do we have to wait for a new root to become available?

For those following the CM10 progress, there is a new build out.
Changes:
- updated proprietary files
- applied samsung opensource kernel update 2+3
- switched to opensource libsecril-client
- updated camera firmwares
