Samsung Galaxy S3

I feel like a total noob asking this question here, but bugger me, I can't find what I am looking for on my phone.

I am using the Samsung GSIII with Android 4.1.2. What I am wanting to do, is to stop the phone from automatically updating apps whenever it wants to. I would like to update my apps all together at the end of the month, after I have seen how much data I have left for the month

Obviously I don't want to achieve this by disabling wireless or data. I still need the data for running of my apps, but I just don't want it to do updates on it's own. I have searched through settings multiples of times and cannot find how to do it

Ah thanks Roman - it never occurred to me to look at the settings in the play store. I searched through all the general settings in the phone. I see it now in the play store. Many thanks

I would recommend you just buy a spare battery and keep it with you. Less bulk, you can charge it in parallel, and you can keep it separately in a laptop bag, in your car, etc. They're also quite cheap now

Thanks, I think I will get the official extended battery & keep the 2100 mAh as spare. Is a charging dock included?
 
Dropped my phone a few nights ago while it was charging on the nightstand. It fell in such a way that the connecting pins bent or something because it does not charge now unless it is connected in a specific way.

I now need the cable to be pulled upwards where it connects to the phone otherwise it does not charge at all.

So decided today to buy one of these to charge my battery.

I bought a battery charger for like 5 US from dx.com (if you're prepared to wait). Generic batteries are similarly priced.

I bought the "original" OEM battery from expansys for R300, and it holds about half the charge. Point is, just buy generic, 2 if you must - they're very cheap.

Did you use the Chinese charger with the OEM battery?

Received this last week and loving it.

I thought it was going to be a generic brand because of the cheap price.

Turns out it is a 100% Original Samsung product with an original battery included.

Charger sits neatly next to my router now and I just take the 1min a day to swop batteries.

If I know I'm going to be out for the whole day and usage will be heavy (liek Saturday at Loftus), I just make sure to take the fully charged battery along and swop when needed.

Well worth the money spent.
 
My S3 began freezing up on me last week so I thought it was perhaps a ROM issue. So I reflashed back to stock and the same continued to happen. I tried to wipe the cache but it then couldn't even do so. It then refused to boot. I tried to flash stock again from the download function to no avail - it just froze. Then recovery stopped working. Now it just says there is a ROM issue and I need to use Kies Recovery. I even tried flashing with a new partition table as a last resort - it says the partitioning works but refuses to load the firmware.

I think this thing is properly bricked now. MTN refuse to even look at it as I bought it in Singapore.

So ordered the Note 2 today as well as the Note 10.1 tablet to console me. I guess if I ever get it working again I'll try loading Ubuntu on the thing and play with it...

What a bummer DJ.
So you cannot go into download mode or recovery at all? There has to be a way to fix the phone.

Can't a cell repair shop look at it, or vodacom. Buggers might be expensive.

I can get into download mode but it appears that it can no longer read anything off the device, nor write to the device, hence why I went for the last resort PIT file to no avail.

I suspect that my device was prone to the sudden death syndrome and that may be what happened. I might resort to taking it in to a Samsung repair/service centre at some point if I can find one in JHB. But for now I am an ex-S3 user. Collect the Note 2 on Thursday.

I considered holding out until the Note 3 is released but then I remembered that I didn't opt for the S4 because the marginal increases in spec make no difference in my life, and the new functionality felt incredibly gimmicky. I figured the Note 3 would be the same thing. Opting for the Note 2 I can, for almost the same price, get the Note 10.1 tablet as well, which I did...
