Lag dude, you open the app once you receive a notification and you have to wait for the this to load, couple of seconds. Same when actually opening a conversation.

I agree, but it happens way too often. Never had the issue before, so could be a whatsapp issue.

Just playing right now, I tested sharing a url from my browser to my twitter client - took a while for the options window to load once i hit the share button. Then scrolling through the list of options, you see the stutter as you move down.

Also Lag when i open up opera mini - all the tiles on the shortcuts light up one by one.

Anybody with ideas to solve (apart from a custom rom) or ways i can diagnose the problem?

Last resort is a full wipe and fresh install - but that reminds me why windows sucks sometimes - bloat!
 
There's a light/motion sensor on the front of the S3, thought it was just used for taking pictures. When I view SMS's I could to see it was on but I couldn't motion stuff. I just noticed when you receive a WhatsApp audio file you can motion with your hands to stop or continuing playing the audio.

Is this something new? Are there any other applications which use the motion sensor?

3) battery usage is much higher - if i leave the phone on 3G i could kill the battery in easy a day - never used to be like this, especially on the original firmware (can't remember the version, was the stock version)

Currently running stock 4.1.2

Hi guys

I'm quite active on the XDA forum and have seen that 90% of the time, slow charging is related to the charger or cable. I also experienced the slow charge issue and swapped out the charger and cable with an old motorola charger and cable... no more issues.

Also thought I'd mention that I've been using a CM10.1 based rom by temasek for a few months now and its nothing short of perfect. Excellent battery life and performance using temasek custom kernel, it's well worth the try. My phone flies, I never experience any lags and usually have around 50% battery left at the end of the day with moderate use.

Howzit, havent been active here for a while since my phone was repaired and I didn't bother to change the stock ROM.

I've finally grown way too impatient to keep waiting for MTN to upgrade me from 4.1.1, so I'm thinking of installing Omega (think the latest for i9300 is 46.1?)

Anyway, I noticed that the download from the Omega DL Center is over 800MB (compared to CM's roughly 200MB).. is this normal?

I've been on CM 10.1 for a few months now and I can't believe it took me half a year to make the switch (ran stock for about 3 months and then Omega). My mom's S3 is running stock and it's a shock every time I use it. The grass is much greener over at Cyanogenmod.

If CM is available for any device I own it gets flashed - the stock Android experience is far superior to anything the device manufacturers release.

I loved CM before the great depression (my phone went in for repair) though the fact that there's only a Nightly for the S3 (still) is pretty irritating. Are there still known issues with stability/crashing etc.? I've looked around for that wiki but can't seem to find it myself. Any advice from a current user that you can offer?

I update my nightly only about three times a month. Every one I've ever had has been rock solid. Granted, I use third party apps like Camera Zoom FX, DigiCal+, Poweramp, MX Player Pro, Next Browser etc. for all my core needs so if there were issues with the default apps I wouldn't have picked them up. And I use Nova Launcher Prime, so a glitchy stock launcher would also go unnoticed by me.

For some weird or wonderful reason my phone refuses to download any files from the internet. At first I thought it was my service provider, but I swapped simcards and still the same problem. It starts downloading a file and says "download unsuccessful". I am however able to download from the Google Play. I am on stock 4.1.2.

Does anyone know what the cause could be?

The issue is with the SD card. I unmounted it and I could download again. I formatted the memory card and mounted it again and all was well.
 
You guys and gals should try Liquidsmooth OFFICIAL v2.8...it's..well...smooth! Really is a very good alternative. Haven't been on a cyanogen since I was using my HTC Wildfire about 2 years ago. I do have the latest nightly on my laptop. Is it stable? I read about a bunch of issues on xda that made me cringe...like not being able to make a phonecall because you get a black screen etc.
 
I have had my 32GB S3 since launch and now it seems to randomly reboot and sometimes it just turns its self off.
It also takes years to charge and sometimes I get a "Battery disconnected error" while charging.

Who can I take it to to get it fixed? I bought it from Vodacom online prepaid.

Take it to your nearest Samsung branch.
 
I've never been one to bother with themes. But today I had time to waste and decided to fool around a bit.

Saw the Cobalt theme for CM10 and gave it a go...

Wow! I'm in love with my phone all over again.

Clear data in system app download manager
 
Guys has anybody ever sorted out the S3's poor signal problem.
The factory reset thing didn't work.

Android 4.1.2 did not solve it either.
Others have returned the phone under warranty or blamed the network reception.

My Motorola Defy never had an issue like this where i use my S3 now.
Having seen many complaints on the Internet about it and i had the same issue.
I actually solved this problem after hours of Googling!

I took the phone out of its protective case and full signal returned, as if the answer was right under my nose!
Signal now a good -83dBm instead of -97 or 103dBm for 5 hours since removing cover.
Covering the internal antenna seems to vastly diminish the signal, almost like a dead spot on my phone.
Can anybody confirm if there issue is sorted or if what i did helped their S3's?

Same happened when i had my S3,with one cover i always had very bad signal but when i changed to another one the signal improved.
