Samsung Galaxy S3

Eish that doesn't sound good. I am sure using the wrong amp charger would not do the battery any good. I am no expert but sounds like the battery is borked.

What if you use an S2 charger that is 98% the same? Maybe the charger is a little bit weaker than an s3 charger?

Thanks for the very informative post :p

also waiting patiently

Anytime, I am here all week :D

Seriously though, I am thinking it is going to hit sometime very soon, hopefully today or on the weekend.

I would say that less power is ok whilst more power is not advisable. Less power just means it is going to be a trickle charge and take a bit longer. More power will charge it a lot faster, but with the potential to damage the battery.

Took the plunge and installed better battery stats. Let's see what it uncovers.

Tip:
Charge your phone 100%
Reboot
Leave phone idle for at least 6 hours. Aka overnight.
Then first thing in the morning take the readings and create a dump file and up it to this thread, i will check it out for you ad well.
:)

Will do so tonight. At the moment it just says "no references set yet".

Do I need root?

For the base features no root required AFAIK. I might be wrong though.
After you installed the app a reboot is required and a full charge.

Strange thing is that my car charger is also 5V 2A and I've had no issues after charging it that way.

Mike, don't you also use a higher spec charger in your car?

True that. My car has the dual USB cigarette socket goodies outputting 2A.
I just got a new one that outputs 3A but nervous to use it now.

I suspect it might be that media process rearing its ugly head again. I doubt my battery is stuffed.

Something is keeping my phone awake.

Just confirmed my battery is charging off usb while I'm browsing and using phone.

Percentage is rising. Last night it was dropping percentages while connected to Samsung wall charger.

I couldn't stop media service last night, but caught it running again an hour or so ago. Stopped it and now things are back to normal.

Will run full battery stats session tonight.

I have the same problem mine doesn't charge at certain times using the Samsung usb charger cable, if I use my old blackberry USB cable on my new Samsung charger instead of the Samsung supplied one, I haven't had a problem yet.

Guys I have a question my s3 is rooted can it still update via ota updates for example when the offical jelly bean update arrives or will this mess the root up thus breaking my phone or something else

It doesn't depend on root, but if you've flashed anything custom: rom; radio; etc.

Delete download manager, Google services, and play store cache. Reboot.

It's that doesn't try wiping dalvik cache.

If that doesn't work full wipe, re flash.

I assume you've googled this problem.

There was nothing in the download manager and google services cache. Cleared play cache to no avail though...

Haha or format your Samsung Galaxy S3 and start off on a clean slate!

So I do a Titanium Backup, then factory reset?

DJ... Check the proxy settings for the APN you are using. If theres anything there, remove it.

Haven't the foggiest how to do that. I can browse and download from other services and sites just fine though - it's only google play that refuses to download - I can browse it though...

I had a similar issue. Are you Rooted?
Did you do a titanium recover after you loaded JB?
If yes, delete Play store and re flash JB, then in titanium when doing recover. Choose not to recover play store.

Yes, I am rooted, but didn't recover anything with Titanium, however none of my settings or data were changed when I flashed, so something must have auto-recovered, surely?

BUT:

Now I have the exact same issue taking place, except on my tablet. I flashed ICS to my 10.1 tablet, and now it has the exact same issue - it cannot download from Play using the 3G connection at all. It does exactly the same thing as my JB S3. WTF is going on?!

Aha, I found the solution to my problem:

I had to delete the port and proxy settings in the mobile APN settings. I then restarted and all works fine.

That's a really odd error and it's been an issue for a while now. Curious as to what could be causing that to refuse downloads and why it would all of a sudden rear its head when you flash an upgrade...?

I've got an irritating issue with the French ROM.

I've been wondering why I've slept so badly the last few nights. Realised now that once the battery is fully charged the phone screen will light up and a noise is made every few minutes.

Anyone else experienced this? How do I get rid of it to get good night's sleep? Is it specifically the French one and if so which ROM doesn't do it?

Omega does not do this. It's probably just to get you to unplug your battery since leaving it plugged in isn't great. Very stupid though.
