Just a heads up for people looking to update:

You may want to think twice before updating your Galaxy smartphone for now

Multiple reports are coming in concerning the Galaxy S7, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy Note 5 and even the Galaxy Note 4. It appears people who are updating their devices to Marshmallow for the first time just now are facing an issue related to passwords and fingerprints, in that once the update is installed neither the password nor the fingerprint is being accepted. It doesn’t appear to be affecting all users so you may or may not have experienced this, but it appears to be widespread enough to generate some buzz online.

:wtf:

No it's got nothing to do with Samsung.

Here - install the firmware yourself. It's so simple and only takes a few clicks.

http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/72698/G920FXXU3DPE8_G920FWFA3DPE1_XFA/

The last time I flashed my phone with sammobile firmware, the flashing completed successfully and everything seemed fine at first. Then my phone soon started experiencing serious overheating issues. I took it in and its motherboard was replaced under warranty. Was this caused by the new firmware? Probably not. However, it's made me feel a bit wary about risking that headache again, so I'd rather wait if that's an option.

Guys what's the best region to use for firmware, I'd like to get rid of the vodacom branding and apps, and also get updates faster.
On my S4 when I was using stock I used Netherlands. Although Netherlands PNH or PHN is currently the same build as XFV.

If you check sammobile you will see UK/Ireland, I think that's what most people use.

YES, it really is! Yay!!!!!! It's 1.3GB though, so it's gonna have to wait until I get home to use my Wifi though, lol. Thanks for letting us know :)
I don't know if it was just me but the update server is slow, the average speed was probably 300KB/s.

Vodacom actually did good this time, it took a week longer but it's a newer build.

I just did a quick check and it looks to be the newest build available for the S6 in any country.

I'd like to point out at this time that this has come very close to my request to Samsung to escalate this with Vodacom :p Coincidence? Maybe, but I know which story I'll prefer!

I just edited my post, Vodacom really impressed me this time, I did a quick check on sammobile, I could've missed something, but this version Vodacom released is the newest build available in any country.

And so it should be, considering Vodacom is the last provider anywhere in the world to release the damn thing lol.

Vodacom did good ? They took their time because they were preloading bloat into the update.

See I have deezer, call+, message+, vodacom app store.

Not sure what else they put on . . . .

You can uninstall all of those, not just disable, completely remove in not even 30 seconds.

Also as far as I'm aware the Deezer preload gives you two months of premium for free.

I can live with that and waiting a week didn't bother me to have a newer build than available in any other country.

I had this with a Note 3 before, I cleared the cache partition and it sorted that issue out. I also have a S6 on MM now but don't have any issues. Telkom Mobile got the update about two weeks ago lol.

Ok, so just had to check in here to say I'm loving the new Android 6.0.1 courtesy (belatedly) of Vodacom ... my S6 came off charge at 06:00 this morning and is at 9% battery now at 21:37 with moderate usage throughout the day (that means around 17h total battery life now). That is a definite improvement: prior to this, my phone would start dying around 16:00 already. Also the rest of the interface just pops that little bit more, but it's the small details (like the low-battery indicator now having a trace of red in it) that I like most :)

People should also install Greenify and enable Aggressive Doze, which enables Doze within a couple of minutes instead of 30 minutes to a hour, another handy thing is in Greenify you can then also enable a Doze notification, so whenever you start using your phone again it will tell you Doze was active.

Will charge my phone fully and leave it unplugged overnight and see how much battery was used.

I've been thinking about doing a factory reset for a while now and after the update I had massive battery drain, 30% overnight gone, so I finally decided it's time to start new, only installed the apps I use everyday and disabled the Vodacom stuff, hopefully this will fix it.
