my S6 came off charge at 06:00 this morning and is at 9% battery now at 21:37 with moderate usage throughout the day (that means around 17h total battery life now)

You lucky then, my S6 comes off charge at 05:00 and I will be lucky if it lasts until 10:00, Vodaocm adamant that nothing is wrong.

I did my 6.01 Marshmallow upgrade from Vodacom with the bloatware; it erased all pictures and video file from the device; all other data is fine.

Anyone else have this issue?
How do I get my pics and video files back?

I've been thinking about doing a factory reset for a while now and after the update I had massive battery drain, 30% overnight gone, so I finally decided it's time to start new, only installed the apps I use everyday and disabled the Vodacom stuff, hopefully this will fix it.

Clearing the phone's cache helped sort out my battery issues after the marshmallow update.

0.o I totally didn't have that issue, everything fine after upgrade ... but then again, this is why I'm backing up all my photos and videos to my OneDrive cloud storage (it automatically happens only when it syncs over wifi, so I don't pay for 3G data). There are so many benefits to that and no downsides (unless you take a lot of nudes you don't want hacked lol). If there's lots of special stuff there, you may have some luck if you can run a freeware data recovery program from your PC with your phone plugged in as removable storage.

Also hear weird noises when I charge you phone with the wire and it gets incredibly hot like blisters on your finger hot

That's not normal. I had that issue before with my S6 and I took it into Vodacom and they replaced the motherboard under warranty.

My Samsung S6 camera is having trouble focusing sometimes and makes a noise and use the camera for work so it is quite a pain and it is only a year old and under the Vodacom Contract.

Would love to send it to be fixed or replaced, but 7-10 days or more without a phone is a pain and they won't give me a smartphone to use and backup my information while it is being repaired so out of options.

Guess I have to live with the faulty camera work arounds or buy a smartphone to use in the mean time.

No ways bro, without a working camera your expensive phone has zero resale value. Go get it fixed.

it still takes pictures and videos fine it just doesn't focus straight away half the time so end up shaking it.

I also never sell my phones so don't see that as a problem.

I had the same problem, they fixed it within a day. I am in Cape Town.

So whose the greatest at Android ?

S6 Edge (SM-G925F) running 6.0.1

How do I set the date to appear on the top of the screen (like the time and battery status thats always there). I would like the date too. Handy for proving when a screenshot was taken.
Is there a setting Im missing on a sub-menu? Not looking to root the device. Ideas?
