I think it's only needed when you flash HOME_CSC but honestly I don't really have a clue.

The same person said to turn it on last year with the S7 and I'm sure multiple users on this forum flashed their S7s and never needed to turn it on.

It's not like it makes it difference so might as well turn it on.

Yea I have been flashing Samsung firmwares since the S1 and with the S7 it's the first time I am seeing this. If I hadn't known better I would have not done this step.

No ,
if you take a closer look (at my pics),you will see that the UAG has a cover flap .
I chose it, as to protect my screen, if i carry it around eg in pocket /bag etc.
If i use phone i just bend cover towards back of phone .No issues .
Its also quite a slim fit and feels good in the hand .
Screen protectors , just does no go for me !.
The UAG case also works 100% with wireless charging .
 
I got a nice scratch on my S7 a couple months back after it fell on the floor under the table and I pulled it a little closer so I could pick it up. So after that, I'd always put on a film protector on the screen (don't like glass ones because they never work nicely)

I see now their site has been updated as of this morning, "Add R19pm and get an accessories kit worth R1399"

You filled in the preorder stuff online yesterday so that technically still counts and you should get the kit for free.

Hi guys - I just grabbed an S8 from Vodaworld - but it comes with a Vodacom firmware - which probably means what - delayed firmware updates and unnecessary apps. Does anyone know the
1. exact firmware additions/specialisations and implications vs a stock Samsung firmware?.
2. if Samsung will provide a stock firmware - I've emailed them but no reply yet. I'm tryin not to void the warrentee 1st..

1. there are no "extras" with the samsung stock firmware, there are just no operator bloat and boot screen
2. flashing an original ROM from sammobile will not void warranty as knox will not be tripped.
 
The Spigen Neo Flex TPU Screen Protectors are highly recommended on Amazon UK and Amazon US and by YouTubers, you can get them via Raru, here, but they're a bit expensive (R296) and you will have to wait since it's imported. It comes with 2 protectors though and they're case friendly.

Has anyone seen them available in stores anywhere or online (but locally)?
Or alternatively, does anyone have a screen protector of any kind (TPU, glass, etc.) for the S8 that they highly recommend buying locally, under R300 to avoid the micro scratches?

It's not bad... Totally colorless and has a thin border of glue around the edge. The centre has no glue. Where it doesn't stick it does give the screen a stage look in places. I can try and capture it if interested.

Last I heard, the S7 Edge Body Glove screen protectors were absolute rubbish. That's why I was hesitant to go for the S8 one without reviews.

Also, does any dust gather beneath the surface of the edges?
Have you tried leaving it in water with the glass on?
Also, is it really case friendly or does it seem to creak / pull up when a case is on?

Hi

The s7 edge was not great and also didnt stick across the whole glass. It seemed to crack easily as well and reduce the touch sensitivity. I have not had any of these issues with the s8. The only thing I suspect is it may reduce the screen beauty a tad.

Does dust gather? - too soon to tell.

Does it fit with any case? - yes! I have it with a uag case. Bulkier than that you dont get.

The downside - the cover with the protector make the edge difficult to use. The glass doesn't quite reach the edge as well.

The glass seems to have settled overnight but attached a photo of the s7 edge same effect where it doesn't stock properly.
