Im not sure what the old 1 looks like, but the new 1 does look super sweet on my side pedestal and, fits in so nicely with my Gear Fit2 charger....

1 question though, noticed it last night... Why does it sound like a jet engine getting ready to take off when my phone is charging on it??

It has fan inside to keep it from overheating.

Vodacom Otel Connect Menlyn Mall has the S8 with the accessory kit on Smart Topup S+ for R629 per month which is not bad. Same minutes and data as the openline but just cheaper top up and includes the accessory pack. :)

The phone will not fast charge with the screen on, been like this since the S6.

It will however display "fast charging"

How long should it take to fast charge the s8. ? My phone was 54% and it said 1h18 m to fully charge. This seems long ?
 
Anyone managed to test the feature whereby you can connect more than 1 Bluetooth device, and stream different audio to each device connected? Or something of that sort?

Yep, done it. But you have the feature a little mixed up.

Two bluetooth speakers at once, same audio.

The different audio comes in when you have something connected via bluetooth, like a speaker. Then you can play your music via the bluetooth speaker, but the game sounds, or phone ringing or whatever, will/can be via the phone speaker as an example.

Oh cool, that is still quite an awesome feature! I figured i confused it somehow.
 
So I caved and got the S8 after reading lots of comments and reviews. Have to say this whole issue of fingerprint sensor is completely overblown. Takes a day or two to get used, especially coming from phones where the sensor is on the front, but I've not had any problems unlocking. But, the iris sensor is so good (as long as it is not in bright sunlight) that I only use the fingerprint about 10% of the time.

Still have not bought a case and after using it for a week, it would be such a shame to hide this behind a case. It just feels so good and comfortable.

The battery life has been big step up; this coming from the S6 Edge. With the S6 I had to always charge somewhere during the day to make it through the day. Now when I go to bed I have about 30% charge left, with about 4 hour screen on time. Includes about 2 hours of bluetooth on, sync on all the time, WiFi on all the time and mobile data on when not at home. And don't even mention the amazing screen.

You would think that the experience would not change too much coming from the S6, but after about three days, going back to the S6 felt like a big step back. Also never had problem with hitting the Bixby button accidentally (one of my worries before I got it). Also remember, one of the first things you must do is set up your personal sound profile under "Adapt Sound"; made a big difference for me.

tl;dr version: Loving it; get it if you're on the fence.
 
Received the phone three days ago...

Coming from a phone with no fingerprint scanner, I feel that it would be better suited at the front. That said, it's not a problem to make use of it in its current position.

What's more shocking is the speed and accuracy of the iris scanner. It is extremely quick and accurate. It works in the dark. In decent lighting, it works with my glasses on. And yesterday, it worked with my Polarized sunglasses on (I was pretty astounded with this).
 
Anyone know where I can get spare screen protectors that came with the phone? I've used one and I think the maid threw my other 1 away. :-(
 
Yeah... I need a recommendation for screen guards and covers, please. Apparently, those UAG ones are amazing but crazy expensive.

I'm convinced I'm gonna drop this thing soon, its so smooth. :
