Samsung Galaxy S8

As per S7 thread, my S7e died after a 3 or 4 second <30cm deep swim.
Not impressed. Going to hear what the warranty dept at Samsung care say. Anyway, picked up a S8 today. So far so good.

Got my S8 just now from Telkom. Busy installing all the updates.

No wireless charger though. Telkom guy said it was promo only whilst stocks last.


Edit: What's the average time to charge the phone? It was at 50% so I plugged in the USB to my PC. Has taken about 2 hours to go from 50% to 80%. Still busy charging to full.

Did it not come with a wall charger?

Will take ages to charge off your pc.

Use the wall fast charger.
 
Just picked up an overpriced Samsung Alcantara cover. Suits the phone a lot and looks gorgeous just hope it lasts. Phone covers have got expensive lately.

It still won't fast charge even if they are 3A, fast charging doesn't just happen because of the amps, it has to be fast charging certified.

No, I prefer in-store. Was also told that the waiting que for online deals are quite long so it will take a while to get the device.

Got the R629pm deal. It was also very quick in-store as I also have a Telkom Mobile data contract. So they just needed my ID. Only had to sign the contract.


Edit: What's a good cover for the s8? There's so many options. I don't mind spending a bit if it's good quality and looks good.

Dude! Not just phone covers, but Screen Protectors to!

I remember when I got my Note 4 I could get damn good high quality covers for around R450, and a good protector for like R150.

I got the shock of my life with the S7 and S8 range, where covers are like +R600 and protectors for about the same. In actual fact, I see Takealot is discounting a lot of S8 stuff now.

I'm guessing this is the cover you got, yikes that is steap! LOL!
