I think you have a mismatched google play services version running on your phone.

get the app "play service info"
and do a bit of digging. you might not be running the correct version for your device. and you might need to go back a version or two.

your android OS is taking up more than the screen. so you have to ask what is it calling that eats up battery?
the answer is your next two most used things. Google play serives and android system.

what is happening, is there is something in the play services that is failing, it is picked up by android OS, that is callinig android services that is calling google play services that is failing.

it is that or you have some sort of malware that is calling ads in the background via android OS....

When you sell it you can offer to update to Nougat for the person or keep it as is but just boot into recovery mode wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset and it will be good as new.

was it around feb your battery life took a massive beating?

I am pretty sure there is a newer version available, I think last update was the 19th of march.

check if you can update to a newer version. click on the play store link, should show it can update, then google does all the thinking for you.

I do not know your device, but a few google searches should come up with a version that is working right for your OS version, that should show you a massive improvement.

Am I really the only person wondering why the Exynos model is limited to 2160P 30FPS like the Snapdragon even when the chip is advertised to be capable of 120FPS?

Maybe down to the Camera Sensor not supporting that to.

What was the process you went through?

I went to the store, signed for a new contract, got the sms saying its gone for approval on the same day and today (3 days later) received an sms for conditional approval and to wait for a call from the dealer.

I called my local MTN and they want R679 for 100 minutes and sms's with 300MB data....dafaq

You definitely get the 2GB. A friend at work just ordered the same. It's actually R649 for 200 minutes, 500MB OR for extra R30, it's R679 for 100 minutes and 2GB.

Yup, that was an awesome phone, my rich uncle had one lol.

My first 'real' phone I treated myself to in my first job was this, the Nokia N96:

Back in 2008 that was a pretty special piece of kit. It even had something that modern phones don't have: a built-in digital television tuner (I could watch DSTV's early trials at digital streaming TV for free). And two-way sliding action, unheard of!

That was a beast of a phone the N96, I had the Nokia N81 at that time, the phone the N96 design was based on. We all thought the era of DVB-H had arrived with the N96, pity it just never picked up hey, I think it was expensive to implement and not all countries supported it, if I'm not mistaken.

Good times.

Respect Those were real phones, with every phone design a unique artwork. Not these horrible soulless screens that are little better than appliances.

no, but seriously, everything that was wrong about the S6 was fixed with the S7. The S8 is just the next iteration. So to state it simply, the S7 was a worthy upgrade for the S6, which makes the S8 even more so.... sense? it makes.

Actually, the S6 edge was the one to get. The standard S6 was not great, which is why I think the Edge sold more units.
