Fanie while you're here, does the Vodacom S8 have a Vodacom boot animation?

Thank you very much, they require a company letterhead emailed just for that to be activated.

Just for the future, how would I know which phones support VoLTE, for e.g. if I'm looking at gsmarena. Is it the LTE cat 16 spec? Or what spec should I look for.

Yes it does. I have a Vodacom branded device. With some of the preloaded apps.

I was able to uninstall the apps except for the MyVodacom app. Which is not a train smash because I actually use the app.

It should be a separate spec box (and nothing to do with LTE category), volte capability goes back the Galaxy S5/iPhone 6 era. Most (flagship) phones since then should support it (but it's not that simple with Android as it also needs specific firmware to allow it to be active).

I don't mind the apps at all, I'm going to disable all of them anyway, I just hate when they add a boot animation, it makes no sense why they feel the need to add one.

If you have VoLTE activated you will also get Vodacom Wi-Fi calling once they update the firmware.

Wow cool. Can anyone comment regarding Vodacom software releases for samsung devices. How quick are they to come?

Never owned a samsung, and for Sony, their updates were up to c**p. They shouldn't even push through the minor updates.

Nougat for the S6 was released two months ago in Europe and still isn't available on any of the local providers, it usually takes 3+ months but credit where credit is due, at one point the Vodacom S6 had the newest firmware available of any S6 in the world.

I checked the build numbers myself and compared them.

Maybe this time they speed things up a bit but I guess three months isn't too bad.

Thanks, I guess I will have to flash another country firmware. Did this with Sony. Received updates immediately as they were released by Sony.

Can anyone direct me to a site showing how to flash samsung the easiest way with other firmware available to download?

I am not familiar with samsung at all. Used flashtool before but not sure whether procedures are the same.

Remember if you flash to another region's firmware you lose VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling when it becomes available.

I have no idea, he posted the same warning for the S7 so maybe he is just a nitwit or being cautious, I can only assume that it has happened to someone somewhere where it asked for a PIN and the person never had it enabled.

well, i never had it with the S7, so doubt it's 100% legit

I will have my phone exactly two years tomorrow and I've seen the boot animation less than 10 times, it just annoys me because it makes no sense to me why they would add it.
