I don't plan on dropping mine either even though it has a "drop tested" case, plus an "impact resistant" screen protector that was tested by dropping a 32g metal ball on the screen.
The case and screen protector may or may not protect it.
At the end of the day it is an extremely expensive piece of technology that can break easily, so taking care to protect it as best as you can should be quite high on the list of things to do.
 
Lol nobody plans to drop their phone but life happens. I've learnt that after dropping my brand new Xperia, that too just when it was released. Had no cover and was waiting for one to arrive from china as i didnt plan on getting the phone. Paid a helluva lot to fix it through Vodacom.

Since then, bought a cover in store with every phone purchased. Cover put on before leaving the store. Bought a UAG cover for the S8, and guess what, phone fell as I was getting out the car a month later. Fell on tar and thank God was I happy for the cover. Not a single dent or scratch on the phone. Albeit the height was not that high but I still think something could've happened had I not had a proper cover.

That's not too bad a cover. I have to say, I'm not a fan of any sort of cover for a phone. It just takes away the actual look and feel of a device. But to each their own
 
How do I decide. Need to decide between the S8 and the S8+. I know everyone says the S8+ is phablet territory but the S8 looks so much smaller than the S8+. Also coming from an LG g3 the S8+ is slightly longer but actually slightly narrower then the LG. Damn this is frustrating.

don't look at inches of screen. go to a store, feel it in your hand, take it from there.

Actually did that yesterday but all the units have that fitting at the back so cannot really get a good feel. I see that you have an S8+. Does it fell awkward when using it or carrying it around?
 
Been carrying my S8+ a few days now as well, and I don't really feel much of a difference between carrying that and the S6 I upgraded from.
The bigger screen just looks so much better that the smaller s8, and the phone doesn't feel much bigger in the hand than the S6.
 
Ok thanks for the replies. Looks like I'm going more towards the S8+ now.
Has anyone bought and used the Dex station? Saw it at the Samsung store yesterday. Quite impressive device and they have it on special for R1999 including a bluetooth foldup keyboard with touchpad.
 
Been looking at getting one as well.
I don't know if the hype is worth it.

The convertible wireless charger was also hyped up, and now it is just another charger, although a good looking one.
The first time I flipped up the charger and used it, it was exciting, but now even after just a few days it does it's job of charging the S8+, but that is it.

Well according to the sales guy at the Samsung brand store, the Dex unit by itself retails for about R2500 and the keyboard R2000 (I think) and they offer both together for R1999, so that's not a bad deal. Apparently this deal is from Samsung so all retailers should be offering this deal as the Samsung brand stores are independent for Samsung.
