What's the going cost to fix these glass covers? Could prob a my do it myself but would like to keep IP rating same without affecting warranty..

I have insurance and could claim and then take the care. I have always fixed these problems myself. Contrary to popular belief they actually easy to fix. But in this case I would prefer to not tamper with it too much with it because of the water protection. I fish a bit and it may help.. if that makes sense.
 
I use face unlock to unlock the phone. Each time I just want to check my notifications I have to press the power button. By doing that it will unlock the phone and I don't really see all my notifications.

Is there a raise to wake setting somewhere? Or how else can I view my notifications without it unlocking my phone each time?

Don't you have to double tap the little square at the bottom of the screen? That's where I normally double tap then I can quickly view notifications.
