Is the SAPO part of customs? Customs belong to SARS afaik. The only income SAPO loses though this is their income from delivering the packages to you.
Think Skinner means the unofficial income

The Amazon is taking a drastic step by choosing a private Courier, because their sales could drop to Zero. The Country itself got its own issues when it comes to Finances. the Government is also warning the public to limit their purchases due to high interest rates. OR IS AMAZON ALREADY FAT WITH SOUTH AFRICAN MONEY? ? ?
According to a radio interview today, Wantitall can supply anything that Amazon.com supply.
I presume they will order from Amazon and then redistribute ( to the Post Office ?? ).
It seems SAPO is trying to get hold of Amazon, to find out why they were cut out of the loop. I can understand why, an important gravy train / income stream is taken away from them now, and they have many hungry mouthes to feed. Those fancy Amazon packages looked oh so tasty and desirable when they arrived at the customs depot every day. Now it has dried up!
"Dear Amazon!
This is SAPO (South African Post Office)! We dimand to know why you stop sending us packages! We deliver excellent service that surpass any other country's postal service, including Brazil! Please keep on sending packages, we need them! It supports our excellent economy! Please respond and action!
Ignorance of this request will be seen as an international act of racism! We will keep our Africa and you can keep your river!
Kind regards!,
Lungile Lose!
ps.: !"

I order my stuff from China - its $5 for anything under a kilo - and its here in under a week!
Oh Pleeeeze............. Another 20 jobs created, cause camera monitors need to be watched and another 20 jobs to man the "suspicious behaviour" call centre!! They will be so very very busy, wont they..................?
And another politician to teach people what integrity mean/is, do you find politicians like that?
Wake up SAPO!!![]()
I order from Russia and Telkom ADSL delivers in seconds.![]()
Whenever I have order parcels from Amazon using the non-priority option they never
ever get here. I find it strange that they mentioned the SA Postal Service and
my goods always went missing in Germany and then Amazon customer service
acts stupid!!!

If there's anyone from Postnet reading this, can't you guys bypass SAPO and set up an alternative route from amazon.com at normal postage rates? There must be enough parcels to make it worth your while. Obviously, you'd only deliver to Postnet Suites - that should put a dent in PO Box rentals![]()
It would be a strategic move of one of the bigger courier services to setup a deal with them now.
You've been using the expensive service then, I've picked everything up I've bought from Amazon via Post Office. Just out of interest, how many of you who have had items stolen/lost sent it to a PO box rather than a physical address?
