SARS E-Filing 2017

I pay medical aid subs for myself, wife and 2 kids. What do I select for this question when creating my return form:

Did you pay any medical expenditure (including medical scheme contributions where you are not the main member of the medical scheme) in respect of any immediate family member who is dependent on you for family care and support?

I need to claim for my, my wife and kids medical aid - so I tick yes for the above? I don't remember this question being asked last year...

How do you know if your company has been claiming the tax credits? I don't see any mention of medical aid in the calculator.

It shows on the IRP5 summary for that company. There's nothing there for the other company who hadn't been doing that.

You tick no. You are the main member. This would be something your wife could tick, if she was paying for the kids' expenses.

Thank you

I think you'd only use that option if your e-Filing hadn't pre-filled with the correct number of members on your medical aid (for me Discovery pulled through this year automatically and it showed two each month for my wife and myself). Then again I don't have kids, so don't necessarily take my advice as gospel.

Can someone please help :erm:

I always get around the 3.2 3.4K back as I contribute to medical aid.

This year however is shows that I owe sars around R1458?

I kind of have a feeling my second company (switched companies) didn't pay all of my tax, or fill in the form correctly.

I am attaching the pictures (really don't care as I took the company details out). How do you work out if they paid you correctly?

Thanks

These are both my IRP5's: (the second one is the one where the tax looks rather low to me!

EDIT: Never mind, figured it out, the guys haven't been paying the correct tax....frustrating. I know it's anyway my money, but when you expecting R3500 to come in and you now have to pay R1500 it's essentially R5000 out of my pocket

Are previous roll over for RA contributions showing in anyones calculations? Or will that only be applied after submission?

I see that there now :(
But taking a look it's not your company having claimed your tax, it seems to be a new source code called 4116 I see it in my previous years one as well and I got a bit out.
I just think the calculator isn't taking into account the 4005 code anymore.
Frak I don't know, seems they are supposed to automatically deduct it from your tax on your renumeration

You will be flagged for verification. You will have to take certified id copy, id book, proof of residence and proof of bank details as on the efiling system in to your nearest sars branch.

I done this in May already. I've done the whole fingerprint verification and all. It took a day out of my life sitting at SARS.

Filed my return this morning. Took all of 10 mins and a small refund due to me.

Quick and painless as usual.

If you know anybody who entered unemployment during the tax year, tell them to do their tax return. My wife just got R6000 back (because she presumably falls under the taxable threshold for her year's income)!

Got me IRP5 yesterday.
Now I need to do that tedious call to get me login details again for e-filling

Yeah I'm rich
Lol, on the bright side you could have been the guy on here who ows SARS R1 500.

From July I'm getting my Discovery premium off my personal account instead, so I think that will make it better for me. No employer fiddling with my tax credits.
