My wife contributed more than the allowable deduction in the previous year to her pension fund (actually an error on the employer's side). The ITA34 of 2016 shows this as "Amount c/f to retirement". I was actually hoping it would be carried over to this year but it also shows R1 as "Amount b/f from previous year".

OK, so everyone who has carry forward that has had this issue it seems, well, I lodged a dispute, lets see what the result is...
 
How do people get flagged for audit? I have never been flagged for audit. Is there something specific that triggers (or could trigger) it?
 
Submitted on Saturday, get an email this morning from HR they have $#@#$ the IRP's up please don't submit your tax return yet :mad: now what...
 
Where is the form??

Only have on their site for 2016 season and nothing up for 2017

If you claim against a travel allowance then there is a good chance that you will be selected for audit / verification.

Other than that I suspect it's random.

Nope, but I'm pretty impressed how SARS has already reviewed my wife's IRP5 and authenticated her refund after selecting her for audit just on Saturday. That's way faster than I'd expected.

What time did she upload her supporting documents on Saturday?
 
Eh, i am having issues. My employee IRP5 information is not pulling through. SARS help line is swamped, estimated wait time is 40 mins

Also any larger than average claims flag audits.
