SARS E-Filing 2017

This question might be asked and answered already but I cannot find it.

I have a RA with Liberty Life. On my tax certificate I have an amout for code 4006.
When I fill that amount it opens the block for "Name of Insurer," that is obviously Liberty Live.
Now the tricky part: What amount do I fill in the blocks for "Contributions made to this policy?"

Do I devide that amount filled in with 12 or do I multiply the amount I payed towards that policy with 12?

I have a question, but it is only for next year's return. After having sold my house, I have the proceeds in a money market account for x months until I buy again. The decent interest income: I know there is a threshold and for 2017/2018 I will be under it, but do I still declare it next year and let the system ignore it due to under threshold or do I leave it off completely?

If you received the money before end of Feb 2017, the banking institution would've sent you proof of the interest received until end Feb. If you only received the money and put it in a money market After end-Feb, then the interest will fall in the 2017/18 tax season.

And you always declare all your income to the tax man. No matter if there is an threshold or not.

As I understand it, the amount next to code 4006 is your total contributions for the year to all of your RAs. The next line asks how many RAs you have. If you put "1" in this block, it opens only one field for "Details of Policy" - this is where you put in the name of the RA provider, your policy number and the total contributions to *that* policy for the year. If you have only the one policy, then those two numbers will be the same. But if you have more than one policy, then they want to see how much was contributed to each, with those numbers adding up to the number you put next to code 4006.

Thanks for the info.

Doesn't your tax certificate from Liberty state how much you've put in in total over the 12 months?

It shows Current RA Contribution with the amount and code 4006. SARS changed the form. Last year it did not ask for the quantity RA policies, insurer details, policy number and total amount contributed.

Submitted docs on the 14th of Sept. Completion letter received 10th of October, currently awaiting payment.

I submitted on the 15th Sept and received the completion letter 10 minutes afterwards. Still waiting. I could really do with that R24K right now.

Anyone gone through a level 2 audit in 2017?

Hi folks. Just wondering if anyone has info on how long a second audit can take.

I was selected for an audit. Submitted docs on 20 July via efiling. Got completion letter on 11 August.

On 17 August manually submitted FICA docs after refund was reversed due to a special stopper. On 14 Sept SOA showed that the refund would be paid on 15 Sept. Was reserved later that day and I got a letter asking for documents for verification - same letter I got way back in July.

Went to Sars on 15th Sept. Told there was a "level 2" audit as of that day. Submitted all the docs again.

On 13 Oct call centre agents says to wait, could be around 30 working days turn around. And by the way, she says, audits go up to third level. If I am lucky, the system may pick me for that too.

Anyone had this? How long did it finally take to conclude?

My audit took about 2 weeks for each audit. They haven't forgotten about you, they prolly just busy. SARS is extremely good at dotting i's and crossing t's.

I submitted my return 12th July, got selected for audit, they asked for additional documents, which I submitted 21st July. Audit was completed 1st September. Heard nothing after that, phoned in numerous times only to be told it has been escalated and that there is no turn around time. After the umpteenth call, and getting no help from the complaints department, they give me the same run around bullsh*t reply, i lodged a case with the Tax Ombud. The fact that they can't give me any sort of viable reason as to why the refund is taking so long is what is annoying. Its a paltry amount of R3200. I mean really...come on now!

Select the option for turn around time taking too long.
