SARS E-Filing 2018

Filed my returns on 02/07/2018

And now I have discovered I have an outstanding return from 2009. I registered in 2010, 2009 was below the threshold for returns. Struggling to get my IRP5 but I have the payslips from 2008/2009.

Why was this not an issue with previous returns?

Probably a case of "The deeper the financial hole, the deeper we dig".

Just an update. Filed 1 week ago, asked to verify, resent the same docs. Nothing yet. Hopefully it comes back as done and they don't request more docs

Still same boat here

Thanks, "glad" to hear I am not the only one.

Trying to wonder what item flagged me. I changed my address as my IRP 5 had the new one on (been putting it off). And I was unemployed for Jan and Feb so I marked that.

But my IRP 5 said employed till feb, although they did only show 10 periods worked. So I am thinking it is more that. Who knows, we will see.

They used to go back 5yrs, apparently the law changed now they can go back 15yrs. If you want to check for old outstanding returns request a statement of account and enter a date ( I selected 1993) It will then show all outstanding returns from that year onward.

I changed banks during the 2016/17 tax year. I went to SARS to update it and everything was fine and dandy. Problem came in when my IRP5 banking details differed from the one SARS had. So last year I was not selected for verification or audit and a week after submitting my return, I went into a SARS branch to query why the refund was taking so long. I was told a special stopper was put on my account. No notice or letters were issued from SARS.

It took the tax consultant at the branch 30 minutes of typing on her keyboard furiously and a week for a team leader/manager (or whatever they are called) to remove the special stopper.

I'm concerned about a sum I had in a money market account earning interest. I declared the interest income and provided the IT3B document from FNB to SARS which shows all interest earned from all the savings accounts I have (several small for my kids). The money market had a very big balance on 28 Feb 2018 which is shown on this IT3B document. The money was proceeds from the sale of my primary residence, so not taxable and completely legit, but I am worried SARS is going to get a hard on and wonder HTF I came upon so much money all of a sudden.

Of course, having now bought a new primary residence a few months ago in this financial tax year, that money is all gone now in the form of a deposit, costs, transfer duty and renovation costs.......

We'll have to see...

Once your returned has been assessed, do you receive any notifications?

I didn't receive a notice to say the assessment was completed.

hmm you should get a IT34 nearly straight away. Then it's either verification or wait for a completion letter.

Same here, did you submit early ?

This is based on the verification, had to submit documents (aka Travel log)

That takes a couple of days. I got a acknowledgement of documents submitted but if I recall, can take a min of a week to process, one stage took them three.

sars.PNGIt feels like Im the only one who submitted early (1 July), submitted all required docs and still not heard anything back on my verification??? What on earth is taking so long.... Many people on here submitted after me and received their completion letters and refunds long ago. I have to endure this every year

31 Jan 2019!!!

Will see,

The ita34 says payment date is 31 Jan 2019 :-/

Also been flagged for review, every thing was submitted last night as well

Will log in again on the first and see what’s happening

Both my wife and I have complete our SARS Efiling on the 1st... first time in years no audits on both sides.

BUT the payment date on the ita34 state 31 Jan 2019 on both?

so 8 days since filling no refund... should i phone them or wait out 21 days, look like we are not alone on this one..

Any advice?
