No it does open but the statement of account is blank it does not have anything written on it. You see when you log in to e filing it will show a snapshot of e filing status as well as statement of account balance. My statement of account balance was showing there, but now it is zero when i pull SOA it is blank, i can read it but there is nothing written on it. It has fields with no populated information.
First time I hear about this, I'm not sure if its a systems/software/browser issue on your side or a fault from SARS side. Best to call the contact centre and ask them to send you the latest SOA by email. should be quick and easy

I got a confirmation letter 10/07/2018 after an audit/verification.

It can take up to seven (7) working days to get the refund paid to you.

This totally sucks that it is taking forever. I don't understand the hold up

I had the same this year. Apparently the accountants did submit, but it wasn't there. What I did was on page 1 of the return list that you received 1 IRP5. Then it will populate a blank page for you where you can fill in the data from the IRP 5 you have. Just be sure to fill it in as per the form with the codes. It is very straight forward.

Thank you for the advice. However currently it does show 1 IRP5 received and there is a page to fill in IRP5 details, the problem is that the deductions and tax credit sections are both grayed out, I cannot enter anything there, and there is info that needs to be captured here. How will this affect the assessment if I don't complete those sections?

Hmm that is an odd one and there I am not too sure. Best to contact them directly to resolve then.

If you wait a while, it will eventually show up as a new heading on the top right underneath "SARS Status" with the heading of "Statement of Account". I managed to view it earlier by going to "SARS Correspondence" -> "Request Historic IT Notices" and then choosing "I want to request a Statement of Account" and then clicking "Next".

You're then taken to a page containing a PDF. This PDF can be missing some information if viewed in a browser, so save it to your desktop and open in Adobe Reader.

Thanks I downloaded it and it does show the form, but nothing filled in besides the one amount. Are you saying I should wait a while on the opened up page before downloading it and then viewing?

No, I'm saying save the file and do not open it in your web browser. Use the Adobe Reader application. Although some users have have reported that the file does still not work with proper Adobe Reader, so maybe SARS is having some issues.

Update: I got paid this morning. I was a bit worried that the audit was taking too long due it being a large amount to be refunded. Turns out it took them 10 days to verify and a total over 14 days from filling to payment in my account. Much better than last year when it took all of 5 months.

great news! My faith has been somewhat restored. I asked them to look into the systems/communications issues. That seems to he the biggest hindrance this year. Other than that they have met my expectations

Had similar years ago, they normally ask for the previous 5 years once you register.

The first one I submitted was Mar10-Feb11 and they didn't request any prior returns.
This is the first time that an earlier return has been requested.

I have just submitted the 2009 return (and uploaded the relevant docs for verification + the 2018 docs upload).
Requested a new statement of account and outstanding returns doesn't show anything outstanding, but I have only done 2011-2018, and now 2009, so 2010 should be outstanding?

I submitted supporting docs without attaching the notice letter for both years - will this be a problem?
Doesn't allow any upload after submitting.

Nope, only needed if you submit supporting document in the post/deliver to SARS office

I had submitted for two years and then they asked for a prior three years. First two years were unverified/no audit, then the next was verified/audited and they asked for prior returns. They wound up paying more as I was under threshold for those years and had actually overpaid tax.

Yeah, 2009 has R700 odd refund added to the screenshot posted earlier.

Anyone know how long it should take SARS to evaluate requested documents?

I filed on 2 July and received a request for additional documents which I submitted that same day. I received a letter acknowledging receipt the next morning (3rd) but haven't heard anything since.

Yeah that is what I have done thanks. Its not the usual PDF completely blank thing, its got all the sars table outlines and stuff like a blank version of their SOA template, and then nothing filled in except the one line with my return.

Maybe it is an issue with them. Wouldn't be the first
