Filed and submitted documents for verification and audit on the 12th. Documents confirmed 02:28 of the 13th. Status is return assessed. Now we wait.
I'm also waiting verification results after submitting documentation. From the initial assessment I'm owing them, do I have to pay or wait for the assessment results?

you wait. There'll be a notice of completion once ready and then you decide to pay or wait. Me , I used to pay last second if I owed, why must they get my interest.

I got my completed form :)

So to help anyone else with rough timelines: I submitted my return on the 2nd of July, got asked to verify, uploaded docs same day and today the 16th of July have been given a letter of completion. No indication of payment date, but I am sure it will be in the coming days.

So I called them. Selected for Audit, not just Verification. Yay. So 21 business days since the 6th before I have the first chance of seeing my refund. Man, SARS just knows how to mess up your day. :/

Verification is 21 business days. Audit is 90 business days. What did your letter say, verification or audit (there is a massive difference) ? The call center agents generally have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to verification vs audit vs audit of payment

I got the following, on 05/07/2018:

For my 2015 return (for some reason they picked this one up as outstanding when everything what fine last year). Note the letter is on an A4 page, portrait and everything on one page:

For my 2018 return. Note the letter is on two A4 pages, the first one portrait and the second one landscape. Why:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/306402365492166656/468636017650565120/unknown.png

I then submitted all the documents after getting them on the next day (06/07/2018). On my assessment notices the total amounts are correct, but it the ones I got BEFORE the verification emails stated that I have a refund due date of 2019/01/31. That's since changed, and all my letters look like this:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/306402365492166656/468637525309915177/unknown.png

Like you said, the call centre is useless and they tell me I'm being audited. The paperwork doesn't tell me when it'll be done by or even when they should have it done by. It's a damn mess. At least with an audit they were able to tell me last year the exact time they should be done - and they were.

Got an email from SARS last night asking for the following "Proof of the base cost used in calculating your capital gains/loss"

No idea what they are talking about, so just uploaded my Medical/RA/Pension Fund stuff again as I did previously 2nd July.

Did you dispose of any property (immovable propery, shares, transfers, etc.) in exchange for any form of consideration (money, barter, shares, etc.)?

I'm not sure how the Medical/RA/Pension is relevant to a capital gain?

Suppose it could be shares I sold, was at a loss though, guess it's a bit late now since I can't submit anything new. Will probably have to wait for round 3 :D

*edit*

Thankfully easy equities has everything nicely listed with their reports for tax purposes, so that shouldn't be an issue.

However looking back at 2016-2017 reports now I can clearly see it's not even remotely right as according to their system report I owned R5.2mil in various shares. No idea how they got to that figure, just hope to gawd SARS don't ask for that particular year as well.

I'm still seeing the below error. Has anybody found a fix for it yet?
Thanks!
Unfortunately SARS cannot perform a tax calculation based on the data submitted in your return.

Most likely a verification, an audit cannot be done in 21 days, to much work

Depends on the audit - if it's just a shallow or a deep audit. I was audited last year and they also only took 21 days.

Filed on Monday 2nd, flagged for audit, submitted docs same day. Received notification last night (17th) that my docs were verified. No change to my original assessment.... wait for the moola to be paid now.

Yes I did and all relevant docs was submitted toe SARS, etc, ROT1, and all IRP5s. No docs was requested when I submitted. Just a message about manual intervention. So do I wait until they contact me?
I filed my efiling on 4/7 and i am a pensioner with no other incomes exept my pension but am being audited for the third year in a row.think this is a ploy to stagger payouts.
