SARS E-Filing 2019/20

I'm with Allan Gray. I emailed them, their response:

"Discrepancies with certain IT3(s), IT3(b) and RA information

Some clients have received SMSes indicating a discrepancy with the third-party data submitted to SARS. It appears that SARS is not displaying certain information on tax returns which should have been pre-populated. This issue has been escalated to SARS. We have been notified of the following amounts not displaying:

• IT3(s): contributions and withdrawals

• IT3(b): gross foreign interest

• RA contributions

We will inform you once the issue has been resolved."
Thanks for posting this - I've got the same problem with Coronation and I wasn't getting any joy from SARS.

At what point in the process does SARS issue the statement of account?

Search for the line "Additional Medical Expenses Tax Credits" in the Notes section of your ITA34. The amount for additional expenses credited is in the right-hand column, and the calculation is at the bottom.

Edit:
The Additional Medical Expenses Tax Credits came to 0.00.

Figured it out through taxtim.com. Have to exceed a much larger medical expense amount for the bills to count towards the credit. So effectively, none of the excess expenses contributed to the refund amount.

Just bizarre my auto assessment came to a 1/4 of the amount I'm going to be refunded. Don't trust those auto assessments!

PS: I'll never understand taxes.

Click on sars correspondence

Then look for something history

On the right you will see two options (i usually just say 6 months)

And say or click request.

And its generated. As easy as that.

The question on when you can do it? Anytime

I don't like this new auto-assessment nonsense.

I'm finding discrepancies between my company-issued IRP5 and what SARS have pre-populated on my ITR12.

Ja just for info purposes, filed Friday, got paid this morning. first time in a while I wasn't asked for supporting docs.

Anybody who got completion letter for verification/audit already?
I got my completion letter yesterday, but no indication on when electronic transfer will be made when i pulled fresh SOA couple of minutes ago, so I am unsure when payment will be made. Iam glad as I usually wait for the whole 21 days for verification, this time it was quicker!

Same boat as me except I waited 31 days for verification.

When did you submit?

when did you submit your return and when did you submit documentation?

I submitted my return on the 29th July morning, and my documents on the same day evening.
I submitted on the 28th July 2020 for both and I have not received completion letter yet. My documentation is proof of airtime/data and depreciation of a desk imported from USA. I really need the money cause it is tough right now due to covid-19. They should have in fact allowed us to file early in May so that we can get out refunds sooner

So an update... my HR and Payroll Company (LDE) have indicated that all staff who have worked overtime have this issue, they 'listed / added' our overtime double

But if they did that then they wouldn't have had enough time to think about how to screw us over.

Filed on Friday, not selected for verification and got paid this morning.
Lucky some. I still haven't been paid. My girlfriend submitted after me and was paid on Saturday already. Seems SARS applies some weird prioritisation in the back end.

Did you receive the auto assesment SMS? Apparently it you did not you will only get your refund in September. Well that's what SARS told me.

I did get the SMS, yeah. The value in the SMS differed to what was there when I logged in, so maybe that's the delay. My girlfriend didn't get an SMS, but she got paid (but hers was a very small amount so maybe there's a ceiling). I just wish they would include a live ETA. How hard could that be to code?
