SARS E-Filing 2020/21

I have a question for the ones who claimed in the WFH section. If I do my calcs without the WFH claim, I get for arguments sake, R10k refund. With the WFH (R20k, calculated on the Tax Tim site), the total return is R20k. Is there only a percentage of the WFH refunded if you are a salaried worked?

exactly this, I am sitting with the same
Hey,

So you have to say yes to the last question on the standard questions section 'Did you receive... and/or incur any other expenses or deductions not covered' and that will give you access to the 'Comprehensive Section'

I am nervous that I get selected for audit/verification if I submit WFH expenses :X3:

I've never been audited before because I have a very basic submission

I've been working from home for 5/6 years and never submitted those expenses, far too much effort.

There's nothing to be nervous about if you have nothing to hide. I have a rental property and get audited just about every year. It's just a process they need to do. Just make sure you have all your supporting documentation to submit if you do get selected for audit.

I agree. Its all about have proof of what you are saying (that's all).

Got verification complete just now, just after I made a correction to my home office expense

You will get back the tax saving on R20K based on your marginal tax rate.

Ok, thanks. I do have proof of everything (the expenses) which I can submit. I just need to ask my employer for a letter to confirm I was working from home. Do you only submit supporting documents if they request it or can you submit upfront?

No, you only submit if you get selected for Audit.

Thank you, I came right :-)

Out of interest I just drew a SoA and SARS can time travel..... it forward dates anything submitted today to 07/01

Anyone have this before, can access my e-filing profile but for some reason my returns are no longer listed under my profile.

I'm gonna try claim WFH expenses. I was home from 18 March 2020 to April 2021. I have a dedicated office with built in desks and shelves, which was used exclusively by myself for my work.

I terms of supporting docs, what specifically must I ask from my employer? Just a basic letter or do they need to complete/submit something specific?
I didn't read the letter at first and started uploading all my documentation. Everything. Starting with 12 months of municipal statements, invoices, breakdown of costs, etc. The upload only supported 20 documents so i was waiting for someone to contact me to upload the rest.

Today i see its been finalised. I guess what i sent was sufficient, although not everything

Just got off the phone with the call centre. Refund will only be in my account 3 working days from the 01st as per the agent. Eish was hoping i would get my 20k refund today as I submitted on Sunday

Just a question, and I feel like I forget this every year. A - in front of your calculation shows they need to refund me correct?
