SAT-3 problems cause Internet chaos

on cybsersmart, rapidshare downloads in fdm running fullspeed but browser wouldnt load gmail/facebook etc.... switched over to afrihost and it worked fine though...

Weird getting no traffic on Afrihost and my local is super slow all on the IS backbone...

I would only be able to access only locally hosted websites for in odd times during the day, international comes and goes.

Please everyone stay off Intn'l - my DL's are flying at max speed!!

I haven't experienced any problems at all today. Come to think of it, today has been better than most WRT time outs.

Gtalk (web client) went down this afternoon for me. Other than that have noticed youtube vids have been quite slow last couple of days. Thought perhaps I am just being throttled on the work network...

When I got home after work my Cybersmart was DEAD. Switched to Afrihost and that was fine.. Still there now.

IS has been a nightmare for the last couple of days. No Google Doc's or Calendar, intermittent Gmail and Analytics access.

They blamed it on our network. Nice. Should bill them for all the time wastage.

I broke it :o

There was this lots of blinkenlights, and I touched one, it fell off, and I tried to put it back into its place, and the whole lot of them fell over :o

Can anyone comment on whether this issue has been resolved?
According to traceroutes, traffic is going through the SAT3 again - but there's still planned maintenance for 29th etc, so we'll have to see what happens. For now everything seems OK/back to normal

i been having problems high latency on overseas games such as wow which servers are in paris

NOT Solved -- Now Solved

[Update]
OK -- looks like I have to eat my words :D
Looking at one thing and seeing something else ..... :o

Weelll this morning I woke to find that I have been put on a totally different ADSL IP range.

165.146.136.X

Telkom -- WHAT -- are you doing ????

[ Puttting me on the CAPPED IP range -- happens so seldom I did not know what was going on ]

Had to go re-configure the router [ Yup had to do that anyway ]

What is also interesting is that the SAIX Cache / Proxy servers do NOT recognise this new IP range.

IF you use 196.43.9.21 or 196.25.255.3 you get a error / barred message.

[Still going to have to check this -- OK stops your International ]

Hhhmmmm

----------
[Checked the detailed useage logs -- downloaded some stuff on the 31 st and the First Jan

This is only showing up on the 05 ????

MS XP Automatic Updates 250MB --Looks like this counted towards blended

THREE GB -- maybe about enough for Sparrows :( ]

Does anybody have a username / password for the SAIX noticeboard or an alternative source where we can get these notices?
I'm sick of being caught unawares by these outages, especially in the case of planned maintenance.
