Hi all,

I'm struggling with a Konica Minolta bizhub C284e all in one.

Basically, I want to set it up to scan to a PC but really am struggling.

What software should be loaded onto the PC in question - KM have so many applications I'm not entirely sure which one to install because as I understand it.

The printer and the software (on the PC) work together.

Well I installed PSBO onto the PC - when I try scan for the device, doesn't find it, if I goto the address in browser, I connect to the printer.
So I added the printer manually - gives a error can't connect.

It is better to set up email services on the bizhub. No software is required to scan and email the document to yourself.

You need to have the right software on hand so that when it finds the printer in your network, you can then point it to the software and it will load it for you.

This is how I got it work.

Download filezilla FTP server ,this is free . Create a folder where filezilla will dump the ftp files ,which will be the scans.
Allow ftp on the firewall of the pc.
Setup scan to ftp which worked for me.

You can create a shared scan folder on desktop and point MFD to the share
The disadvantage of this approach is that other users on your LAN will have read/write privileges to the folder. Are you able to set user and password on the MFD to access the shared folder?

shares can be hidden with the $ command like administration shares. But you are right in asking if the MFD can be password protected.

You need the ftp utility from this page. Install it and point it a local folder. Folder does not need to be shared. Disable firewall at first until you have scanning working.

On the printers web interface setup ftp destination in the speed dial. Enter the hostname and if I remember correctly you either leave the root path blank or put a . in.

Government setup - we not allowed to do that anymore... don't ask why - it's a long story.

What version of Windows are you using?

I'm not familiar with that? Where did you get it?
Is it free?

Windows 7.

It wants you to click agree at the bottom of the page for their EULA then it will take you to the download page.
If you still don't see it afterwards click on the "MFP utility" tab at the top of the download page.

You can use filezilla too like someone else suggested but you don't need all the extra bulk of it. The KM utility is compact and easy to setup.
