Its bittersweet for me. Its the end of Labour. And sure, I know that they had some bad years but I like center left parties. They were a breath of fresh air after years of the conservatives under Maggie. Center left parties are generally good for a society. On the same note, Cameron and the Tories will forever be known as the party that couldnt keep the union together. I dont know whats going to happen in the next elections.

Rangers fans, huge unionists of course, are known as the sons of William , Hearts fans are jokingly known as the cousins of William.
I'd have expected this to go the other way.
A young Asian lad came back from his first day of school in Glasgow.

Ah, it refers to the numbers of actual church goers which I guess is not so surprising. I see it's from 2008 as well which os probably not so obvious on your mobile. Interesting reading nonetheless.

Anglican numbers are increasing as well ... The English Kirk almost have enough congregants to build a monstrous mega church
Of course there is an interesting dynamic to this though - Presbyterian thought (mild Calvinism really) is pivotal to Scottish identity even for non-adherents to the Church of Scotland but the Jacobite rebellions and the unfortunate incident (lets be polite about the Tudors) involving Mary Queen of Scots ...

That's a rather jaundiced view of Scottish identity and Scottish history, Paul. The Scots had a Scottish identity long before the protestant Kirk existed. In fact, Scottish identity was formed and suckled in the bosom of Holy Mother Church! As you know, that recent upstart William Wallace assisted weekly at Mass, just like his ancestors.

I didn't say all Scotsmen are Presbyterian - quite the opposite actually. I said Presbyterian thought plays a pivotal role in modern(ish) Scottish identity [as does being non-English].
