Screamer ADSL

hi, what are your speeds now ?
i'm thinking of going over to screamer but it seems they have the same problems as DC..

with the exception of the 1st 3 days in Jan, it has been smooth sailing for me.
same problems as DC - not a chance.

The only problem is that there is a waiting list a mile long to get into Screamer (check some of the posts a few pages back). Surely that tells you something.

Hi.

Is it just me or is HTTP browsing in the toilet ? again?

Thanks

EDIT:

HTTP = Dead to crawling out of the grave.
STEAM = going at line full speed (40+ KB/s) , but that's different port and such.

I paused my Steam downloading but overall HTTP is timeing out and dead slow. So methinks there's some shaping problem somewhere.

howzit, u said that all the users would get private IP's by the end of December 2009...any idea when they are coming along?

I would also like to know? Without a PUBLIC IP, I will not be willing to sign up.

Day 8. Still no reply. Worst service ive ever seen from any company

lucky you, wish i could get help from telkom in 8 days insted of 5 months.

If you did not get an email stating that you are in the queue, then you aren't. I applied last year and was told nothing about being in a queue. So I re-applied and got an account by the next day (either good timing, or I moved up in the queue when they added users in January).

Try re-applying. It might help?

I sent them a email over the weekend, they replied Late yesterday i am in the que. So now ile just wait...

12 days waiting - cancelled.

I have just cancelled my application - will spend my money elsewhere for now - I didn't want to have myself locked into a commitment to pay for screamer when they are ready and not actually have enough bandwidth in the mean time.

Spoke to the call centre, and they don't seem to know how much longer we will be waiting for the upgrades. Can't go on like this.

Will keep an eye on this thread for when people start getting on again. Their package will be great when it is stable and when I can actually buy one.

Day 9 now, I think i might just follow suite. Even though i managed to get hold of a techi, he has no idea whats going on... Seriously Screamer you should close applications for new users if you cannot handle the load, its just that simple really. Rather send out a mass email stating you cannot help us so we can go look elsewhere then hanging around wondering wtf is going on..

Still cruizing at 40-50kb here on torrents... ba da pa pa pa... <insert rest of words here>

Hi Guys

We are conducting a major upgrade to accomodate the huge backlog of applications.
We decided that it was probably better to allow prospective clients to apply and then when we have completed the upgrade to contact them and ask them if they wanted to still be activated.

This was a fairer basis than to just open applications suddenly and if you happened to be watching our website you would jump to the front of the queue.

This way those clients that have been waiting the longest get their activations first.

We should be commencing with activations again in about a week and a half.

I just signed up for screamer on Monday 25th Jan. Spoke to the call centre agent, explained I need to be connected asap to the internet. Representative told me it takes 2 days for your order to go through. I submit my application along with bank details and all my personal details.

So today is Wednesday and still no email (as promised via the call centre) to give me my password and access details. I call the technical support.

They tell me that Screamer is waiting for an upgrade from Telkom and that no new customers are being connected until this is sorted out. First mention of it. He tells me it will be sorted by Friday (I doubt it!). And the reason is that overdemand is meaning existing customers are not getting the speeds they are paying for.

Thats enough for me to say GOODBYE SCREAMER!

I ask to speak to a supervisor so I can cancel my subscription. Supervisor number 1 is engaged after holding, try supervisor number 2, hold, oh no they are also engaged, lets try number 3, oh damn they are also engaged. So they take my number and say they will call me back. Still waiting.

Nice work SCREAMER. Just shows you cheaper is not always better. I'm voting with my feet and going elsewhere.
