Screamer is an absolute dead loss - wasted most of weekend fighting with the connection - fortunately trustworthy WebAfrica pay-as-you-go works perfectly - just expensive

tried calling Screamer helpdesk - Friday night got thru and they said to disconnect phoneline for 5-10 minutes - works for a bit then trickle feed (at best) on browsing - rest of weekend Helpdesk has been on answering service - unbelievable way to treat customers - you would think if they had a catastrophe they would put a helpful message on either their website and/or Helpdesk voicemail

ABSOLUTELY USELESS - service both on internet and service desk non-existent !!

Dead here too, can't login at all from my router *sigh* . Back on good old trusty Telkom.
 
screamer are absolutely useless. Couldnt do anything over the weekend and missed out on a skype call from my family in the UK. screamer if you don't sort your problems out by the end of the month im cancelling and going back to telkom or afrihost
 
When someone comes to life over at screamer, perhaps we'll get some answers:

1) Why couldn't people authenticate from about 3PM yesterday?
2) Why is browsing so incredibly slow (especially when downloading seems to go *fairly* quickly)? Ironically I can't use the link to screamers Speed Test either.
3) Have the new IP's been a success generally, or am I the only one moaning?
4) Why can't I check my usage on screamer.co.za?

+1. Same issues here, still can't authenticate/login as of this moment.

As for the IPs, i didn't expect a change for what i'm doing. The public IPs are only useful for very specific applications, but unfortunately my connection has been worse ever since the new IPs and now i can't even login. So i'd rather get the old NATted IP if it means i'll remotely get a stable connection.
 
Ya know, I can play COD-MW2 at the same time as my wife (online) using my 384 connection via Afrihost. And we get no lag what so ever. But I cant play just by myself with the screamer account :(

EDIT: I see my 512 line at work is flying, dunno how the 384 line at home is doing. Anyone else on 384? Hows it going?

I've been using Screamer uncapped since the launch and I was mostly happy until this month. First their email server wasn't routing properly (took 5 days for them to fix) and now the speeds are so slow its depressing. The helpdesk is also shocking as according to them "doing a network upgrade and it will be fixed tomorrow" or my other favourite "its an upstream provider". I've been really patient with them in the beginning as it was a new product but its actually just been getting worse. Sorry guys, I was really hoping you'd do well but my account is cancelled and I'm out.

Agreed, any P2P of mine can fail, seriously. All I would like to do right now is browse the net without taking an antidepressant before I logon.

384 = Serious drag.
 
So my 512 line is running on the NAT still (10.xxx.xxx.xxx range) and it is going pretty fine - not full speed but ok. My 384 line is on the public (40.xxx.xxx.xxx) range, and is like a dead dog. Will someone at Screamer please communicate something to us on progress. Jee, how hard is to logon, type 2 sentences and submit??

PS... I don't and won't ever leave a message on a stupid automated answering system. If I cant get anything out of a real live person... I'm not interested.
 
So since i can't even get onto any sort of account page or page with contact details . Those that successfully cancelled, what procedure did you follow? Email adress? Phone number?

My 2 month instant review of Screamer 384 Uncapped : Great if you want an "off-peak download service" , not useful for anything else. I got most of my GB/usage from Screamer -while i was sleeping- . Was forced to switch to Telkom ISP to browse and game.
 
I've just cancelled my service via e-mail (they have a dedicated cancellations e-mail address), and asked for a full refund of Jan and Feb. Tried to phone them first, but I was in the queue so long that I didn't feel like waiting any longer.

Will let you know what the result is when (and if) they get back to me.
 
So I take it I'll be on MTN HSUPA again tonight?
 
wow this really is pathetic. Ive been using my phone to post on the forum since friday as my internet won't work! my phone is actually faster than my 4mb screamer account! If i cancel my account at the end of this month, will it cancel at the end of next month? Also those of u who are with afrihost, what are the speeds like and have u encountered any of the same problems as screamer?
 
My Afrihost account is 100% (on 384) it downloads at full speed.

I regularly get an "A" on pingtest, and always good results on Speedtest. So its quality is fantastic... In my experience.
